This place was there for me when I needed help. I never stayed in the shelter, but I went to the drop in centre several times. The staff were always super friendly and understanding, and it was a great place to warm up in the winter. They gave me hot meals, clothes, hygiene products, food hampers and bus tickets. They never made you feel judged. At Christmas they gave everyone a backpack with supplies and when I opened mine I cried. I'm stable now, and over the age of 24 which is the cut off, but I just want to say thank you to all the staff that helped me out.

This place is as good as it reasonably gets for a shelter. As with all shelters it's pretty strict and the staff aren't always the most understanding, but the programs here are very well funded, they provide permanent semi-private rooms, and help get you connected with resources. Sometimes they even buy things for you that you need. 3 meals a day, the food is nutritious and reasonably good. If you need somewhere to get back on your feet, this is the place. Just keep your expectations in check and have a plan to move forward. They are pretty respectful of queer and BIPOC people. The buildings are gender segregated, and gender diverse people can self-select which one they feel most comfortable in. The building is accessible and physical disabilities are well accommodated. Other disabilities, and trauma, are less accommodated, but they still try a little if you advocate for yourself. Many of the bad reviews here are coming from people who are feeling the impacts of society as a whole rather than issues specific to Covenant House. That was my experience too, I hated some of the rules and staff while I was here, but when I look back they were just doing their best within a broken system. They're not the perfect place of refuge that makes you feel safe and takes care of you the way you need. But they're a very good shelter, and you'd have a hard time finding better elsewhere.

There are shady things happening behind the curtains here. Very “left” organization without any conservative values. Workers don’t have the skills or training to help most at risk youth. You will be thrown out if you speak up on it or end up knowing too much. Great place if you are disabled, a woman, LGBTQ or minority. Men get treated very poorly here. Has a very “cult” like feel to the establishment.

the only thing good about this place is how accepting and or inclusive it is. But because of that a few sketchy and scary ppl still get the pass, had a few things (in my own room with locker) stolen atleast 3 times before and I remember james being lazy to look for it when i asked him politely and gave a description. alot of the good old staff from there are not there or much anymore.

We dropped off a bunch of clothes and food . The place was very nice and clean and the girl at the front desk was very friendly. So glad kids have a safe place to go to and where they can eat and get personal items .

been here for a bit, all that PR promotional stuff online is fake. They don’t meet the needs of the kids in here at all, and are hustling them. considering press.

One of the best places for those that are willing to put the work in, working with people who genuinely care about your well being. Guides who can help with any aspect you may be needing in your life.

This a great organization that does great work for homeless in Vancouver, who need some help gaining stability in their lives. I did the sleep out event and was truly humbled by the experience.
