Thin pieces of veal battered and fried, slapped in between tomato and some basic bread. Difficult to hold and very messy, but each bite was comforting with aromatic veal and the fried aroma is balanced with the tomato sauce. Cheese adds a slight creaminess and extra flavour. Portions were also massive.Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts!

Tried a medium veal sandwich. I was amazed by the portion - just half of it was bigger than whole sandwiches you get at most other places!The spice was nice - a true medium imo, enough to feel the heat, but not overwhelming. The flavors were good, it’s definitely a more “practical” sandwich though - it’ll really fill you up, but it won’t blow you away with some new flavors. It’s simple, but good.I can definitely see the appeal here, it has a charming old vibe of a lot of history, and it seems like hasn’t changed much in decades. I would definitely come again if I’m passing this area.Oh also, a lot of reviews mention cash-only, but I asked if they take card, and was able to pay that way no problem.

The OG of veal sandwiches. This place is a fixture in Toronto. It is legendary. I hope the Bertucci's keep it going until the bitter end.I love my extra hot veal and sometimes I splurge and add cheese. I've been eating here for almost thirty years. It is just one of those things, if you never tried it, then you don't know what you are missing.

I just want so say how amazing this place is. Every time we visit Toronto a veal sandwich is a must. Currently me and my family live in the US and we even pack them in our carry on bags to eat at home. (We’re originally from downtown TO) I just wanted everyone to know downtown Claremont California Sandwiches is the best. Our family has been customers for then pat 20 years!!

The staff here are amazing and they really do make the best veal sandwich in the city. Hot veal with cheese and a side of olives is always delicious. They also have a good assortment of other sandwiches and drinks.Order by phone if you want to skip the line. Cash only.

The veal sandwich is outstanding. Its huge, meaty tender and well seasoned! The flavour is amazing and the portion is huge.You just have to creative with the topping.Its soggy but its still good!

I had the spicy chicken parm with eggplant and cheese. I am being 100% serious when I say that it was the best sandwich that I ever tried in my life. Better than All’Antico Vinaio, better than anything. Thank you Frankie and Jane!!

This is the original location, I have been coming here since highschool. I always get the veal sandwich here, I like spicy so I get it hot. Over the years their hot has turned into mild. Still the best veal sandwich I ever tried anywhere else doesn't compare. Portion hasn't changed in years!! Always try and come to this location if I am in town! Nice area to dine in as well, lots of space and clean.
