Firefly Creative Writing

Firefly is an amazing place to start writing if you are a beginner or you need community and looking for writing and a community to keep you accountable. I love firefly and been to 2 courses. Wish I could do more!

Having the support and constructive feedback from a small group was what I needed to gain confidence and momentum with my writing. Mary was perfection at moderating the Year of Stories workshops and setting the tone for a positive and abundantly creative experience. This was my first Firefly experience and I will be back for more.

I was just reminiscing and I wanted to share my experience. I took the fiction workshop almost two years ago and i still think it was one of the best and most unique experiences i’ve ever had. When I started the workshop i was 15 years old, and I knew that the workshop was mostly with older people. The first time i was in that zoom call I was so nervous to share my work. However it didn’t take long to realize that the small knit group of people and our wonderful leader, Mary was incredibly supportive and encouraging. It was an incredible experience being able to meet such amazing people and I’m super proud to had do something so out of my comfort zone. It encouraged me to write, and to share my work. Evidently, Firefly Writing has left such an impact on me that i’m still thinking about it two years later when I should be studying for my exams! right now! I would 100% encourage anyone to join any of their classes and workshops, there are multiple programs for everyone and I promise it will be an experience that you will cherish.

Firefly Creative Writing's BIPOC Stay At Home Writing Retreat left me with a strong feeling of calm and fulfilment - the type that one expects from a wellness retreat. Thanks to their caring facilitation and empowering community I was able to spend a whole weekend writing, and sharing. Plus, it has an incredible value: I came in empty-handed and left with over 40 pages of new work and a creative community.

I love working with Firefly! They are not only amazing people, but they are fantastic at helping you with your writing. Could not recommend them more warmly. (In fact, if anyone is looking for a direct reference, and have questions from a users perspective - feel free to reach out.)

I've taken two courses from Firefly Creative Writing so far and both times my experience has been excellent. The instructors excel at creating a safe and welcoming space for writers to share their work and their prompts and approaches inspired me and did exactly what they were designed to do (keep my writing). I truly enjoy being part of this community and I'm excited to take part in my third workshop soon!

I fully concur with all of the positive comments about the Firefly experience. What I can add is that from my participation in three small group writing sessions with Kim, Mary and Asifa, as well as larger group writing sessions, and the Morning Coffee sessions, I’ve grown as a writer, and even discovered for the very first time how much I enjoy writing poetry. But apart from my growth as a writer under the warm, supportive guidance of the writing coaches, I feel that I’ve grown as a person. The Firefly online sessions gave me the opportunity to meet interesting people of all ages and backgrounds through our shared love of writing, people whom I would never have encountered if I had not become a “Fireflyer”.

I've been writing with Firefly for 10+ years! They're a phenomenal group of coaches & writers - kind, talented, and motivating. Whatever your goal with writing may be, they will help you meet it. I highly recommend signing up for a class, a retreat, coaching—anything and everything that they offer. I highly recommend Firefly Creative Writing for writers of all skill levels!

Firefly is an incredible group of writing coaches and facilitators. I have had one on one coaching and attended numerous retreats and they are absolutely fantastic. I was so shy and hesitant to share my writing, but Firefly creates the space for true community and the nurturing of your words. Whether you are wanting to explore writing or ready to begin your novel, Firefly has the coach, program, or retreat that will perfectly meet your needs. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Both BIPOC Writing Space and EORI class have enriched me creatively and personally. I’m so grateful I stumbled upon Firefly on a Google search, and that I’m able to participate despite living in the US !
