This appears to be private property now - drove up the road and saw the signs so we tuned around and left. Looks like someone’s home to the east. Are there tours during the summer? No idea. But the whole site looks like a prime candidate for rehabilitation. It’s in a beautiful location.

Look up some of the history before you go so you know what the buildings are but the original history that has been preserved here by scooting around in the ruins and finding old ledgers with patient information and recipe cards and hospital logs. The buildings are beautiful in that run down sort of way that old buildings get, the amount of people who have tried to get the San. Up and running again as a historical site and as a camp, even as a hotel, are endless and you can see bits of these people everywhere as you look around. Originating as a functioning TB hospital the building has many cool things that you don't expect, such as underground tunnels where they used to transport laundry, a slaughter house where they prepped the food for the patients, even an auditorium. This old lady (the sanitorium) desperately needs love and is in search of a committee to help rebuild the damaged part of the roof, so of interested in being a part of that please contact the San.
