I always had this impression of a bankruptcy trustee being some scary character that was going to make me feel worse than I was already feeling. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I called Brief and was pleasantly surprised to find out I was speaking directly to one of the owners. We had a nice conversation and we left off with me taking some time to review my situation and options. I called back about a week later to proceed with my filing and I can’t believe that in the end I was actually feeling no regrets about filing my bankruptcy. Upon entering a contract with Brief and Associates, they stated my student loan was included in my proposal. Upon completion of my end of the consolidation agreement, I found out Brief and Associates made ZERO payments and i was delinquent on said loan by three years. According to this company i was told i would not deal with any of my debt collectors, so i was unaware of any of this.I was also NOT made aware that consolidating debts essentially puts you in a bankruptcy bracket and makes it impossible for you to get any sort of loan, vehicle, or even a cellphone.Avoid third party companies like this and deal directly with your bank.. hard lesson learned
