Chartwell Rockcliffe Retirement Residence

My parents moved to the Rockcliffe four years ago. They enjoyed and embraced the beautiful setting, wonderful meals, and all the interesting excursions and activities.My father has been on his own now for nine months and the Rockcliffe staff have gone above and beyond to support him during this time.During Covid, the staff remained professional, calm and residents were safe and looked after. Zoom chats were set up by staff in his room so we could visually stay in touch. The excellent nursing staff were available to handle any emergency. The staff at reception were always warm, friendly and answered my numerous questions. I found this re-assuring as I live out of town.A big Thank You to all the staff and to Sean, the Manager at the Rockcliffe during these unprecedented months.

My mother is very happy living at The Rockcliffe.The food is very good, the staff are super friendly and we feel she is in good hands.The physical structure is very attractive and the added bonus of living on an island in downtown Ottawa is unique! Highly recommend this residence to anyone looking for a nice place to live .

I've worked at Chartwell Rockcliffe since April 2019 and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. I've worked in most departments: dining, activities, reception and nursing. All positions have allowed me to develop various skills which I will surely use subsequently.Management is attentive to my well-being and collaborates with me to schedule my shifts around my educational and extra-curricular commitments. Staff appreciation is expressed by throwing staff events and integrating games into meetings at which prizes are awarded.Working in retirement is very fulfilling. Getting to know the residents and hearing about their experiences is fascinating. I've made many bonds that have marked me for life. It is also an honour to be making a direct impact on the residents' daily lives.I hold Chartwell Rockcliffe in high regard and encourage those seeking employment to sincerely consider applying here.

My parents moved into the Rockcliffe in May 2018, thinking they would stay for a short time while their condo was being repaired. They felt at home very quickly and when it was time to return to their condo they decided to stay at the Rockcliffe and sell their condo. My father had dementia and he felt at ease in this new environment and knew that my mother could have peace of mind in this elegant, familial and secure community.Thank goodness that my parents chose the Rockcliffe. It is a lovely building in a beautiful setting, but more important for us (my parents and my siblings) has been the high professional standard, the warmth and kindness of all staff from management to food service, housekeeping, resident entertainment services and nursing! They have gone above and beyond many times to make my parents happy. They have also been extremely effective in managing living well through these difficult covid times.

I have had the privilege of dining at the Chartwell Rockliffe on several occasions and have always found the quality and attention to detail to be of the highest quality. Chartwell Rockliffe’s staff are very attentive to their residents and guests. The facilities and suites are also very fine.

I have volunteered and visited the Rockcliffe on multiple occasions. It is a stellar facility, where dedicated employees work to make the Rockcliffe a true home for its residents. The food is made with love and care, the building is very well maintained, the activities are thought through with attention. I would not hesitate to recommend this residence to all that can afford it.

The setting is beautiful, the building is lovely, but what sets Chartwell Rockcliffe apart is the people. Over the course of this pandemic year, I have had cause to interact more frequently with the staff. They have shown themselves, time and time again, to be caring, compassionate and committed to making life as enjoyable as possible for their residents. They go the extra mile.

My father and I toured this residence to inquire about care for my grandparents. The staff were incredibly accommodating and quick to answer all of our questions, get floor plans for us etc The tour showed a stunning residence. Our favourite part is the park on site. I really loved the green space, benches and statues.

My 87 year old father who had a severe backache needed some respite from his home surroundings. From our first connection, our experience with the Rockliffe has been exceptional. The room was very comfortable, the staff supportive and the management was great. Chef David was very accommodating to my fathers dietary restrictions and made excellent food. His physiotherapist was able to continue her visits. My biggest praise goes to Binda, who truly helped my father make this difficult transition possible. Without a doubt, the stay helped my father with his recovery and for this I am most grateful to the team at this wonderful residence. Highly recommended.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Rockcliffe Retirement home on a trip to visit my Father. He is now in his late 80's and I wanted to see what options were out thereafter we sell his Condo (his home of 40 years). I was pleasantly surprised to meet the General Manager, on a Saturday no less! I can say that this property is spectacular! The views of the City and the parliament buildings are amazing. The finishes are new and very modern, and the entire place did not have a feel like an old cliche' retirement home. Every turn we made, I was amazed at how friendly the staff were and the residents alike. One resident asked if my Dad played bridge (which he so loves). In the end I visited a beautiful dining room and had a wonderful small eclair and a glass of wine overlooking what I am sure will be a spectacular backyard when spring finally arrives. All in all, very welcoming and elegant! I will be bringing Dad on my next visit and would encourage people to visit this wonderful home.Regards Angela D
