We had a really enjoyable Saturday dinner here. All the food was delicious (we ordered several small plates for sharing), and the cocktails really hit the spot for me. Would highly recommend Highwayman and will be going back next time I’m in Halifax.

Was a decent experience as I was from out of town. I found it was a little difficult to get the waitress attention once we had our drinks as we are being ignored. The drinks had been pretty good and the atmosphere itself was nice. It's pretty dark ! You don't need a reservation if you go during the week but I suspect you'd need one of you go Friday night or weekend evenings.

The Highwayman offers a fantastic selection of drinks and tapas, with two standout features being the amazing cocktails and the vegetable plates served with delicious sauces. However, I do have a few minor complaints:Firstly, the $25 charcuterie board was underwhelming, comprising a single cheese, two meats, some olives, a plain white baguette, and no jams or sauces at all. I would have expected at least two types of cheese and some sort of jelly or sauce to accompany the board. I did request to exclude blue cheese if it was part of the spread, but it's hard to believe that they only offered two types of cheese in total, with one being blue. The lack of spreads, jams, or crackers (just plain white bread, not toasted, and no herbs or fancy touches) made the charcuterie board seem less appealing. Even if the board were offered at a higher price, having more variety, or dividing the cheese into two smaller portions of different types, would have been a welcome improvement. I am aware I can add more selection on my own, however I hoped for smaller portion sizes and more variety, instead. To give the benefit of the doubt, it is possible this was clearly spelled out in the menu before ordering, however I genuinely don't remember and just quickly ordered the general charcuterie board.Additionally, securing a reservation can be challenging, if not impossible outside a certain window, as it seems they only accept them between 4:00 - 5:30 pm or so. I'm not sure why this is the case, but it's worth noting.Despite these minor issues, The Highwayman remains a great spot for a night out with friends, offering delightful drinks and delicious tapas.

Heard so many great things about this place, so we put it on the 'must-try' list during our trip to Halifax, and I'm so glad we did.Phenomenal experience. Top notch food, atmosphere, and staff. Great place to hangout for a drink, chill or go out on a date while enjoying some quality seafood. We ordered the seafood platter off their Happy Hour menu, which includes a half dozen oysters, 2 chilled seafood dishes and sides. The oysters were delicious and fresh, and the seafood dishes prepared fresh by the chef were perfect compliments to the platter. The whole experience from start to finish was amazing, I will definitely be coming back on my next trip and highly recommend this place to any future travellers!

What can I say other than a great all round experience. The food is a modern twist on Spanish tapas. Each dish is a delicate balance of textures with a freshness you don’t get in the classic versions.

Highway man was good but I think it’s a little overrated if you ask me.The drinks are priced higher than most restaurants in the area but they are delicious. You can tell that a mixologist made the drinks instead of a regular bartender.Don’t expect to leave here full. The sharing platter don’t come with much food.As a group of six we spent almost 600 dollars on drinks and food and still had to go elsewhere for dinner.

The cocktails were amazing! The food was delicious but nothing that made us go “WOW”. Loved the atmosphere and the open kitchen. The service was lacklustre, very nice people but we felt like we were being ignored. At a restaurant with this level of food we just expected a little more from the service. The oysters and olives & almonds were the best! We felt the two veggie dishes that we ordered were too similar in composition to stand out (gnocchi and carrots).

A colleague recommended this place. Wow am I glad I visited. It was a difficult choice and I’m so glad I went with the croquetas, they were crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. The I had the pork belly and scallops. Great food and presentation, great staff with interactions with a few of them.

So good! We went for happy hour and it's an absolute steal. If this place was in Paris, NY, LA, etc. it would be absolutely packed from 4 to 5. Excellent platters and oysters, $10 cocktails, and a cool but unpretentious vibe. We'll definitely be back!

Had a fabulous experience here! Went for dinner and drinks with my brother and his wife and the staff were truly fantastic. I hope they all get the recognition they deserve because they made the whole experience worthwhile. Whether you're seated at a table or posted at the bar, the fun and elegant atmosphere helped set the scene for some delicious nibbles from the wide ranging menu. The Mushroom Risotto with Saffron & Manchego is heavenly and has to be tried. Booking is essential during busy times.
