Gorge Road Hospital

My husband was in the Waterview unit for a month before he passed away in early July. My son and I can not say enough about how much we appreciate the kind and caring staff, a room that met all his needs and the support we received from the staff on the floor and at the front desk. His death and viewing was handled with so much dignity and care. Thanks to all who helped make a very difficult time for us better because of you who treated him and us so well.

My mother has been on a respite stay at the Gorge Hospital. I visited her most days as was upset about being away from home - probably 10 times in all. I became more uneasy as her stay continued. There seemed to be very little interaction between staff and patients. It may well be that the facility is understaffed, but that is no excuse for the lack of care that my mother received when she became ill. After a few days, I wanted to know if patients had been tested for c. difficile. The nurse I spoke to refused, at first, to answer the question - apparently privacy" was the issue - then told me that my mother did not have "c. difficile" and hung up on me."

This beautiful place offer long term residents to live in two floors and acute care facilities in other two floors. It is very clean and staff are pleasant, friendly.

Residents were all comfortable, the facility was extremely clean and considering it’s an older building the staff are very caring . The hallways are a good size and residents appeared content.

Super disappointing. My grandmother is in gorge road waiting for a permanent space. Today is her 90th birthday. And I’ve been trying all day to call in and talk to her. But the nurses refuse to put me through to her. Makes me question what other care needs the nurses are failing to provide to my grandma. Short staffed or not, there’s absolutely no reason for negligence.
