Spring Valley Guest Ranch

What a find this place is. The scenery, the hospitality, the simplicity, the carefully curated artwork, the food. Got to greet cows in the morning and tour a theatre and gather eggs. Can’t recommend enough.

This is a great place if you want something different. Fun old farm house, delicious food, and of course an amazing host. Jim was helpful and accommodating. Our kids had a blast here.

We had a fantastic stay with Jim . So comfortable and incredibly interesting- I hope to go back some day.

One of the friendliest and most interesting hosts I've ever stayed with, Jim's place has everything from heritage livestock, to homemade Steampunk fashion in a rennovated church, to abundant birdlife and beautiful surroundings. Couldn't recommend staying here more, and excited to do so again next time I'm in the area.

Spring Valley Guest Ranch is a wonderfully interesting place folded neatly into the hills of south Saskatchewan. The venue itself has such a rich history that can be uncovered by chatting with the friendly owner, Jim Saville. Nearby attractions (for the avid naturalist, at least) include the Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park West and Central Blocks, Fort Walsh Historical Site, and the awesome Grasslands National Park West Block . Be sure to catch a meal made by Jim himself featuring some of the products from his rare and heritage breeds of cows and chickens. For night owls, the stargazing is incredible, as the Ranch is located far from any urban centres. Jim is such an accomodating and friendly host, and I'm sure there are many more features to this lovely little BnB that can be yours to discover!

Jim was very friendly, the property was beautiful, and the food was great. The wife, our dogs, and I loved it. We felt right at home. Hopefully, we will return in the future.

I was here here for 2 weeks wwoofing and Jim is an awesome host. I really liked the accomodation and surroundings. Also the farm and animals are very cool to have around you.10/10 would come back again!!

I’ve heard about Jim’s ranch for years but never had the chance to go check it out until last weekend. It is nestled in a small valley with a lovely old house. There is just too much to see, from the amazing landscape of cypress hills to Jim’s wonderful collection of antiques to the beautiful garden. It was just a perfect stay. Thanks Jim

Jim definitely treated us like family with his home cooked meals , showing us around his delightful home place and his warm welcome at a time when myself and my loved ones so needed it as we made a heartfelt memorial journey to Cypress.
