Dr Karen Gronau

My experience dates back to 2014 I especially went through my documents to find this doctors name. I had my daughter at Brampton Civic and she happened to be the OB on call. To put it very bluntly she is a straight up b****. This lady traumatized my birth experience. I was a young 19 year old first time mom, first pregnancy and she was horrible. Told me to shut up when I was screaming because I could feel her giving me the stitches. In a very rude tone told me “it’s not going to work” while I was frantically pushing the button for the epidural… Her whole demeanour was off. Never informed me of anything like how bad I tore etc. It is only now that I have a midwife and we went over my prior birth experience that I fully grasped how not normal this was and what a great impact she had on my life in a traumatic way. She really needs to be in a different profession because she does not understand or is abusing the power she holds to be a part of someone’s very life changing special moment and make it such a horrible experience to remember. I was young and naive but I wish I had filed a complaint against her back in 2014. She should not be in this profession. I don’t know whether she is racist or has something against young moms but do not go to this lady and if she is on call may god help you. Ask for another doctor. I hope you read this Dr. Gronau you are a horrible insensitive doctor and you don’t deserve the title of being a doctor. You have no compassion, no empathy. And if you were having a bad day as a doctor you need to learn to put it aside and not let it affect your patient, especially when your someone who is a part of such a big vulnerable moment in their life.

Receptionist doesn’t answer phone when you need an appointment. I called everyday for 3 weeks for book my 6 week appointment and no answer. On the 4th week, she finally picked up and when expressing my concern she said “you could have emailed us” when an email was never provided. Don’t go here if you want to be ignored.

The first time I met her was the day I delivered my daughter. She was the on-call OBGYN. I was sent for an induction. I felt very reassured and included her treatment recommendations and had the ability to explain things to me in terms that I could understand (no medical jargon). I felt very involved and aware from start to finish. She was friendly and efficient and did exactly what she explained to me. This birth experience was very positive beyond my expectations. She has the ability to read the room and advocate for her patients (the nurses were very loud and annoying while I was pushing and she told them to stop). I would definitely recommend her!

I recently had my 3rd c section with Dr Gronau and I couldn't be more then happier with choosing her to be my OB. At first I was a little bit worried after reading all her bad reviews but I decided to still see her I don't regret it 1 bit. She was very thorough with her explanations and made me feel at ease throughout my whole procedure. I would 100% recommend her to anyone who is looking for a knowledgeable and comforting OB in the Brampton area. Anyone who is reading her bad reviews do not let that discourage you from choosing her.

After months and months of waiting I finally received a call for an appt. Everything was firmed up and scheduled.. 1 day prior to the appt I get a call from their receptionist and she says the Dr has an urgent meeting and it will need to be rescheduled. I was given no choice or chance to keep my current appt. I booked something in tentatively and then was unable to reach them to firm it up.Terrible terrible terrible.

Dr. Gronau is one of the best Doctors I know. I have gone through 2 pregnancies with the Dr, and she has been nothing but helpful, professional and understanding.In reading some of the other reviews I was rather shocked that some people were so unfair and judgmental in the reviews they gave. She is a highly educated woman that has been in the field for a long time. If she tells you something you don't like it's because it has to be said. Pregnancy and female health can be delicate topics, but sometimes needs to be put bluntly to the patient so they understand the seriousness of the situation at hand. Please also remember ladies you are very hormonal when writing these reviews so try and be nice. Dr. Gronau is doing what she dose best, taking care of woman and thier babiesThank you Dr. Gronau for making so many families happy.God Bless

Dr Karen is very good and also very polite. I would recommend pregnant mothers to her so much care and really take her time with you (Moushoumie jadunandan)

the worst experience ever! she never listened to my concerns and just rushed my appointment! I came in for a checkup for my irregular cycle and she was just rude and disrespectful bringing up irrelevant information about how south asians have high chances of getting diabetes, she pinpointed on my weight making general comments and never made any suggestions to improve my current situation. the clinic doesn’t even pick up their phone in case of emergencies!! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

If I could give her 0 stars I would. I came into the hospital with abnormal ultrasound scans and severe pelvic pain. She saw me in the emergency room, before she admitted me and when she discharged me 48 hours later. She never explained anything that was going on with me and discharged me with pelvic fluid still in my body. I would never trust this woman with my body again much less a baby. Please find any other obgyn/gyno. She's horrible and doesn't have the time of day for you.
