Almenara En El Rio Marina & Campground

Almanera’s is a wonderful place, starting with the hosts. They are lovely and gracious people, who are passionate about their Marina and Campground. All of the guests we met were friendly and cheerful, a definite reflection of how this place is run. We certainly will be back and are so thankful we found this gem!

Perhaps Ms Jesse Briscoe should come clean on how she scams people into giving her cheaper rates by calling and telling people her group are students and are only allowed $500.00/week for accommodations when in actual fact she is the Ontario Sales Manager for Liberty Security Systems. We dropped our rate for her group by $400.00/week to find out that this was all a scam. Or perhaps she should tell you how she arrived 5 hours early to get into the trailer prior to it being cleaned, begging us to let them put their belongings into the trailer early. Or perhaps she should tell you how dhe said the trailer was left in really great shape and all that needed to be taken care of was the beds needed to be changed. Or perhaps she should tell you how when asked to find some other place to hang out while our cleaning personnel cleaned the trailer for them that they said they were going to work but left one of their members behind who kept askng our cleaning staff member how long are you going to be?"ot telling her she didn't need to clean "this or that". Or perhaps she should have told you how she came to me the next morning accusing "my cleaning staff of leaving a filthy mess for them". And

Almenara En El Rio is a lovely quiet spot near the outlet of the Spanish River on the North Channel of Lake Huron. They have tent campsites, trailer sites, a small marina, boat launch and boat storage. Jean and Russ, the folks who own/run this place are very friendly and helpful with finding the right local people to keep your vacation running smoothly. We spent a couple of days there recently when our sailboat motor was in need of repair. When you are on vacation and something bad happens, it is very difficult to find help in an area where you don't know anyone. Russ put us in contact with all the right people and made it possible for us to be back on the water in a couple of days!

This is for the fisher man as I am not but I can see all theBoats leave and return very quite just like what I would ask for as this is my first night here

If you fish this is your place as I do not but will need to get a License as this place is nice and quite . No children running around as it is cool to day I have the radio on down side no TV

This is the first time I've been to the Marina, I needed some assistance with the winterizing of my boat. Russell was very accommodating, I have meet him before at The Outdoor Store and he was just as great then aswell. I have scheduled my date for for the winterizing of my boat. Russell was awesome to deal with. I'm glad I popped in to see him, Almenara En El Rio Marina is now my go to spot for anything I need when I'm up at the cottage. Thanks Russell for all you help!Joe

This is a nice place to stay. We arrived late in the evening by bicycle and the staff was able to find us a spot by the water. They are hot showers and a small convenience shop. They are fire pits, but we didn't use them. Early in the morning you can hear the frogs and see the turtles.
