Student Wellness Centre - Health and Wellness Building

Called at 3pm, but Student Wellness Centre never picked up. The Call Centre specified that they are open 8am until 4pm, and have a lunch break at 12. Why wasn't my phone call picked up? They didn't even ask me to leave a voicemail. Like the other comments, I have been a student for 2+ years, paid tuition on time, and yet I am still denied access for an appointment, before even BOOKING an appointment with the staff. UVIC seriously needs to step up an take accountability for the inefficiency of services being provided. Going around and advertising that the institution prioritizes mental health and other wellbeings is a complete lie if you can't even get staff to pick up the phone and answer appointment requests.

No mercy, rude, inaccurate information, zero care.That’s all I have to say with the Uvic clinic. As an international student I paid bank of money to this institution; and never ever felt they have 1% care to their students health.I was on prescription medicine by my doctor here, and when it’s time to renew, they just refused to refill my prescription (“we are all booked, we can’t help). I call them many times to get my prescription renewed and the receptionist just told me I don’t need a prescription to renew, and ask me to talk to my pharmacy (completely inaccurate and misleading). My pharmacy gave me all the emergency supplies that they can give me, and i was forced to withdraw from my medicine which i suffered bad withdrawal symptoms.Called them again today for something important because I don’t have a doctor and I have to. Unsupported as usual, and I’m just shock that how can a healthcare institution has 0 mercy like them.

I called the second it opened and it was already full. This place is a joke and never seems to have spots open when you need it. Please make it more accessible for your struggling students.

Line up before it opens and get lucky or wait 2 entire months to book an appointment. Why even bother saying this exists. Also how are services this bad, I know my tuition isn't going into educational quality.

Clinic opens at 8:30 am and takes a few appointments by phone. It does NOTHING after that.

trying to get an appointment is impossible and waits are almost always over a month. The whole point is for students to have access to medical/wellness assistance but it takes all our efforts to get the bare minimum. I know a couple people who dropped out and still use uvic’s medical system which takes away from students who still actively attend school and need the resources. something needs to change because my needs are not being met and i’m constantly having to wait long periods of time and suffer because of it. I’m alone here on the island i don’t have anywhere else i can turn to. i’m tired of having to wait 4+ weeks for a 10 minute appointment that the doctor is always 40 minutes late to anyways- it’s a joke.

Was denied service even tho I have already paid for it in my tuition. They refused to book me in Tommorrow as well. It seems in order to access medical treatment here you have to force them to help u. Disgusting

Every time I call, I’m met with a receptionist that is incredibly rude. I have to wait MONTHS for a prescription refill that I’m required to go in person for, yet they’re telling me I can’t go in because I have a GP on the mainland (who I can’t regularly visit) and made me feel bad about taking resources away from students. I’ve been a student here for 4+ years and I pay them good money- the least they can do is have a better system and MUCH more respectful intake staff.

the newer receptionist is insanely rude, almost every person i know who has had to go to the swc has brought up how unprofessional and disrespectful she is

The way they treat students is deplorable. Like every other comment, I was refused service that I already paid for when calling right at opening. Uvic clearly has no regard for student health or they would have remedied this years ago. Furthermore, not being open on weekends just proves that u if will take millions from their students to intentionally provide the bear minimum. Shame on whoever runs this center.
