When beginning the process of importing our own FDA Certified product (manufactured in the US) we were advised to work with Gateway Customs. They were communicative during the process to ensure we supplied all the appropriate information and we even acquired a Safe Foods License despite the fact that all of our products are lab-tested and GMP Certified. Of course, Health Canada decided to select our shipment for inspection. I was educated on the fact that although a Safe Foods License is all that would be required in the US, supplements (even basic, ie: whey protein, super greens, turmeric, etc) apparently fall under a different title for Canada. And thus require a different license, for each product. Safe to say my country is the epitome of the classic hall monitor trope, and we were denied entry... So all in, we've now paid a pretty penny for shipping (now both ways), plus a Safe Foods License and to add insult to injury, we were charged for the inspection that caused our shipment to be denied. In good faith, Gateway Customs paid the inspection fee. This is something rarely seen in business practice today, and because of this gesture, Gateway Customs has my respect and 5 stars to go with it.
