Called the center and was faced by a couple of rude women. Couldn’t wait to rush me off the phone even though I was calling for my grandmother with mobility issues, quick to pass off to the next person. There’s social workers who do this job to help people but these are here for the money and should find a different career. I believe a new director should be considered if this is the treatment people in crisis are faced with.

I am talking about the native women's center on Rosedene Avenue. If it was for not a few outstanding employees that work there it would be horrible to stay there. The room was nice which made it bearable, I would not say all the rooms are nice though. Expect to be treated with disrespect from some of the employees. Most do the bare minimum of their job description. The staff should treat the women with dignity and respect which they do not. Opening your door in the evening without even a knock is disrespectful like they are always trying to catch you doing something. I actually think the evening staff enjoy that part of their job. It must be nice to sit in the office and just look at your phone the majority of your shift.

Our two day stay was disgusting. The first night there, shelter staff had granted permission to extend our curfew, then fabricated that I missed curfew.Staff made me sign a blank document in order to have a bed for my child and myself. Shelter staff, (Hitler), argued about the difference between Mandated" and FORCED "group" attendance in order to be "allowed" to stay at the shelter. The Health Board would have been gagging at the filthy sink

This agency is an absolute joke. The Executive Director of an Indigenous agency is a white woman, who has no regard for the well being of marginalized women. She is rude and callous and cares only about power. Do your best to avoid this place, because it will only make your mental health worse.

Be kind and respectful and supportive to one another, in challenging times from a service provider to a service recipient. Situations can be difficult and emotional, and we need to be compassionate, understanding and supportive to one another. We are all in this together. We are all responsible for our own actions and can strive to be our best. Most importantly we can give respect to one another, this is free.

These women are very hardworking, thorough, and organized, and they still smile. The vast programming, and extremely friendly atmosphere make this one of the best non profit organizations out there. They make me proud to be a native....Koodoos ladies!!!

Went here a few years ago, genuinely one of the worst experiences of my life. My mother was pregnant and she was NOT allowed to eat unless it was at the designated time, couldn't even have a snack. literally had to get a doctors note stating that she needed more food for the staff to even consider. Staff are extremely rude, you'd assume that since they are working at a shelter for people in need they'd be a bit more kind and understanding, but no, the people that worked/are working there are so incredibly judgmental, its disgusting. Can't even bring your own snacks for yourself or your children because they will take them away. If you're considering going here and you have children, DO NOT GO. Youre better off finding a different shelter, like seriously, I hope that one day this place gets shut down for good.

let me tell you the truth about Native Womens Centre. My children and I stayed for a solid 2 weeks. during that time I recieved the most disrespect multiple staff members. we were not allowed to eat unless it was eating time as the coordinator said Do you not understand the eating time schedule OR do you need a reminder" I was shocked she just spoke to me that way... although I understood very clearly living in a shelter my children wouldnt eat the food they were starving most of the time so when they were hungry i jumped quickly and fed them.Chores: my chores were always done
