The sign in the entrance says Welcome. It should be changed to Unwelcome. It used to be open to visitors but they stopped that with Covid and have chosen to keep it that way even though the pandemic has passed. The taxpayers who pay their wages have a right to see where their money is going. All their proud proclamations on their web site are worthless if it cannot been seen.

Photos taken from the small carpark. This is close to the wharf where vessels doing work for the Coast Guard, and the Ocean Sciences are moored. There is quite a bit of harbour activity to observe, from the footpath.If you go the noticeboard in the photo, you will find many more activities you can participate in. North Saanich has a lot of very active and organized people, who put on accessible walks and talks.Welcome to North Saanich!

I used to work across the Institute of Ocean Science Federal Goverment building at the Marine Technology Center and at noon hop over for a quick bite.Just sign in & get a visitor's badge at reception than walk down to the end down a flight of steps to the cafeteria style dining hall. Pick a tray select your choices, pay and begin enjoying your mealAlso enjoy the majestic ocean & panoramic view of the Malahat. In the summer and step out to the open yard, sit on one of the picnic benches and slowly devour your lunch. It's so relaxing that we sometimes over extend our lunch time. It's that good! You better believe it.
