Love this place. Fresh baked bread that is absolutely perfect. Meat is delicious and thus the whole sandwich is amazing. Staff is friendly and it has a good atmosphere.

I had initially tried Meat and Bread years ago in Vancouver, and after our first visit we religiously stopped by every time we got the chance. Since adulting and covid we haven’t had the chance to make it down to Vancouver let alone Calgary, but this recent family trip gave me my opening and I was hellbent on making everyone check out of our hotels later than usual to make this my first stop of the day. At 11AM on a Friday, I was circling their shop for a good 15 minutes before I finally walked through those doors. The slab of porchetta on the counter immediately caught my eyes, and I was beyond elated. We opted for the classic Porchetta and the Meatball,both sitting at $13.50 each. Crispy pig skin sprinkled onto juicy pieces of roasted pork, sandwiched between some immaculate pieces of bread. I didn’t try the meatball but both parties enjoyed it.Was it as good as I remember? Absolutely. Am I going to make my way over here any chance I get? Definitely. I did forget to get some sauces to go which was a downer but learning from my mistakes for a later visit!

Absolutely delicious. I work pretty close to this location for the past 2 years and never got a chance to try it out until recently. Most of the time I would see the line out the door and would hesitate to wait. However this time I did wait and the line moves nice and quick. They had about 6 or 7 sandwiches to choose from, soup (always tomato), chips and drinks. I opted for the Buffalo chicken and the soup. Both to die for. The Buffalo chicken had coleslaw topping that was nice and creamy and the added dill to it just made the flavours pop. The bun was nice and soft on the inside and crunch on the outside. Each bite was full of flavour and texture. The soup....it was so good. Can't wait to go again for lunch, might try a different sandwich or stick to the same. Definitely recommended as the service is quick and friendly and the food is high quality and delicious. !

First off, I love the name of this place! Meat & Bread. No BS just direct and straight to the point. The sandwiches here are fantastic!! The corn beef sandwich was definitely amazing and for anybody who wants a simple and yet delicious sandwich this is the place to be. The staff is friendly and service is quick. Amazing food found in downtown Calgary! Highly recommended!!

I've passed by this restaurant multiple times, and today I finally paid them a visit. Based on the reviews, I ordered the porcetta sandwich with extra meat (personal choice). The sandwich was great, the bread was soft and the meat flavored perfectly. I probably could've done with the extra meat but oh boy was it worth it.Staff were welcoming and were fast on service, even during the lunch hour. I'll come back next time and try and something else new!

Had three sandwiches here and I have to say right off the bat that the bread is great. It’s fresh and has the perfect crust for a sandwich. I also really enjoyed the simplistic presentation of the sandwiches at this location.Really liked the meatball sandwich because of its authenticity. I tried their chicken sandwich which I found to be average. Also had the Jamaican patty sandwich , which was disappointing and didn’t taste like a Jamaican beef patty at all.I would re-visit this location to try their Porchetta sandwich for sure.

Always delicious. My best friend and I usually split one of our regular go to's and one of the rotating specials. Went for the steak special. Very tasty creation with potato matchsticks piled on top for some nice texture. Porchetta is a must and a staple. Meatball is my second go to. If you like a really great, super satisfying, no fuss but gourmet sandwich, give meat and bread a try.

The meatball sandwich is good the Cuban sandwich was nothing special. Two sandwiches one small sparkling water and kombucha with tax and 15% tip came down to $43.5. The price doesn't match the taste and portion size.

I had the day off yesterday (June 21 2023) and decided to hit this place up for lunch as its usually closed by the time I get home from work.Holy guacamole the service was fast. To the two dudes who were working the counter that day around 1pm... you rock. It was busy in there and they both were super friendly and made a great recommendation. I had my lunch in my hands within 2 minutes which actually took me aback, and it was beautifully put together. Sometimes when I get food that fast it is sloppily presented but it was packed up neat and tidy.Their popular Porchetta Sandwich was unreal. I loved the crispy pork crackling in contrast with the juicy porchetta and soft bread. The (slightly spicy) pickles as a side were the bomb.Would definitely eat here again. I really appreciated the friendly service and the quality of the food was excellent.

So this place is right smack in the heart of downtown and lives up to its unique vibe and name. The restaurant is a simple concept for lunch with plenty of seating. The menu is stripped down with only a few delicious sandwich options to try. I snagged the BBQ and wow it was bursting with flavour. The bread and meat flavours were beautifully balanced and my food came out promptly.Service were great and staff prepped the food in a timely fashion. It’s a nice pace to try something not subway that actually tastes good and is high quality. The only “issue” is the prices are a bit high but what miss in quantity you get in quality.You choose. Hit it up!
