The staff are, for the most part, entirely useless. The recruitment officer actively discourages students from attempting to transfer into engineering by lying about the cutoff averages and telling you that you have to repeat the majority of your first year classes (even when you have the appropriate transfer credit). She also lies about the engineering courseload, claiming engineering students have 50 hours of class a week (when in reality it's closer to 30-35). I was stupid enough to believe her so I didn't even bother submitting my ITR for my transfer. A month before class started, I met a few guys who had successfully transferred into engineering. They were told the exact same thing as me by the same woman but decided to press on with switching in. They ended up talking to someone else from the academic counselling office only to discover everything the recruitment woman told them was was untrue. I could have easily gotten in with my marks but I just didn't submit the paperwork because the info from the recruitment officer completely discouraged me. So I ended up wasting a year trying to shadow the engineering program.

Absolutely horrified by the quality of their engineering program and I pushed for this one. For example, the physics professor was slightly ahead so cancelled a week's lessons and then, at the end of the term, rushed to get it done right up until exams. Some of the examples from the class were actually incorrect. This was not the only course with problems like this. It seems the focus was on getting it done not actually understanding. There were a few good professors but at least half were below par. If I had it to do over again, I would have recommended my child pick a different university

PARENTS: I strongly advise you don't send your children to Western Engineering! Do not even apply to this faculty. Instead, it would be very wise to consider other engineering programs.

It's a good place to learn. Both faculty and staff are very well prepared to help you develop the necessary skills to become a good engineer

Architecture is all its got. Staff treats you like they don't care about you after you paid over 10+k a year. Material that is being taught is really good however the profs who teach it try to trick you any way possible (My experience at least). Had a quiz due on a set date at 11:55 PM, the due date was set in course outline however prof announced that the due time was changed from 11:55 PM to 6 PM at 3 PM on the same date. Without any sort of accommodation for people who do not check owl (announcement website every 3 hours?). Don't get me wrong, there are some really good, honest profs that helped me out but they are minority.
