I attended Dogport Academy last year so I could get certified as a dog groomer. John and his assistant Mandy were wonderful teachers and I learned so much from them. After I graduated I had the confidence and the knowledge to start my own business. Both John and Mandy exhibited the utmost respect and caring for all pets left in their care and instill the same values to their students. Thank you!! Keep up the great work

DogPort Academy is an excellent place to take your furbaby. John and Mandy are two of the most patient and kind people I know. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to spend 6 weeks learning at DogPort how to properly groom dogs. John and Mandy couldn't have instilled better patients, understanding or ethics in their students. Irene Tansley, I don't believe one bit of the garbage you wrote in your review. I was witness to likely 100 dogs being groomed over my 6 week course and everyone one of those pooches were treated with Patience and kindness. People that go around trashing small businesses and innocent business owners should be completely ashamed of themselves. I'm sorry John and Mandy that you had to be the target of such a volatile women.

DogPort Academy is an excellent grooming school! John is a fantastic teacher and a genuinely kind person. He really cares about his students and he is passionate about dog grooming. I learned everything I needed to know to start my career in grooming and I’ve been working full-time in the industry for two years now. I feel like I was well prepared to jump into the role and I thank John for providing me with the skills and confidence I needed. I highly recommend DogPort Academy to those considering getting into grooming. You won’t regret it!

I attended DogPort 6 years ago & it was the best decision I've ever made. John is so patient & knowledgable which makes him a great instructor.As groomers we not only see the perfect pets but the neglected or nasty pets. Many groomers refuse these dogs but John exposes his students to these cases so when we go out into the real world of grooming we know how to handle these situations.

I am so glad that I made the decision to attend Dogport Grooming Academy. John is an incredible teacher. He is so knowledgeable and encouraging. The small class size was fantastic and I received such personalized attention and feedback. The course content was very well organized and covers everything from grooming theory to the essentials of starting your own grooming business. We were also provided lots of hands-on experience grooming many different dog breeds. When the course ended I felt well prepared to begin my grooming career. Thank you John!! I am now working full time as a groomer. I would highly recommend Dogport Academy to anyone who is interested in becoming a dog groomer!

I can never say enough good things about DogPort Academy and John. I have been taking my fur baby Harley there for over 4 years, and I have never been disappointed with the service. Many different students have used their taught skills on my little man and he has never had a bad haircut. He goes every 4-5 weeks for his next appointment. When I asked him “do you wanna go see John” he runs around doing laps and then goes and sits at the door. He loves going there. I would highly recommend DogPort Academy to anyone that is interested in becoming a dog groomer.

Dogport Academy is such an amazing place! John Hensy is the most loving, kind, patient and very knowledgeable groomer/teacher. Mandy, his assistant is also very wonderful, patient and can make very sad/neglected dogs look and feel 200% better. If you read the reviews they are all perfect and lovely and true !! I know from first hand experience . The review I read by Irene Tansley is very disturbing to me. I know for a fact the condition of her poor little neglected dog Cody when he came in and it was very sad :( We as groomers should have called the SPCA on this owner as the condition of condition was unbelievable! I have never seen anything like that in my life. Some people neglect they’re animals by never brushing them, cutting they’re nails and letting them go through life with severely matted fur so tight on the skin that it’s very disturbing. Shame on you Irene. And shame on you for bashing, in my opinion, one of the best dog groomers in all of southern Ontario as well as leaving a horrific review on Dogport Academy’s page!! Dogport Academy is a wonderful place to bring your fur baby and they treat them with lots of special care and love. Thank you John and Mandy for being Number 1!!!

As a former student and a dog mom that has had her pup groomed here, I whole-heartedly recommend DogPort! John and Mandy take such care and pride in their work. Students are taught in a small group with lots of one-on-one assistance and the dogs are very well cared for. You can definitely tell that John is dedicated to uplifting the grooming profession and passing on his trade. Senna (my pup) has looked and smelled amazing after all his groom sessions. He always came back a happy, well pampered boy. DogPort Academy is THE grooming place to be in Woodstock!
