My Father lived at the St Charles for a year and a half. He was treated very well during his time there and the staff were kind and attentive. I would highly recommend the St Charles for memory care.

My Aunt currently in this place and I have been denied access to her! There is no court order or restraining order. Yet, I cannot speak to her or see her which is elder abuse. You do not want to leave your love ones here.

Since there is only 3 reviews I thought I would add mine. I will agree with all reviews and heres why: my first few visits were met with a less than friendly welcome from staff. On initial intake my grandfather was in a very bad way after being evicted from his previous care home -that failed to tell us upon renting that their medical ward did not treat dementia patients. From the ER and traumatizing public althzimers care, st charles was (an expensive) dream come true. On the first few visits i was greeted coldly, if at all. The staff did not offer me or my family snacks as the food carts arrived (not even his wife who was visiting or my 7 year old child). They did not have a wheelchair for him and they could not tell us where his dentures or eyeglasses had gone. However as the weeks became months, both our welcome and my grandpas condition improved. I dealt with the same nurse almost always, and staff now knew of my grandpa when asked. Lets be frank: these are confused dying patients and St Charles is a medical facility. A cold exterior belies a warm heart from what I can say of this home. We are happy with the arrangement.

I visited my best friend mother today .I was shocked with my first experience .when I simply ask the nurse at desk for room number she was very rude without answering my question she ask me what is in your hand I said this the flower and this is eye drop for her she was not welcoming at all .although I reported but I felt so bad .then I noticed her place is in basement ,dark small and expensive I compared to government nursing home and give therm 1/2 star .I am so sad that government support this kind of nursing home .and I am afraid this is going to be the future. pay more to private form our tax payer .I am sure they pay less to nurses and may be that nurse was overwork and stress up at end of her shift but whatever happened today I have not seen in my past 20 years as registered nurse working for VIHA.I am sorry for people who leave their love one here and hope they read my review and change the way that treat our community

When I went to visit my grandparents at the St. Charles I was more than impressed with the subtle hospitality that was provided. They have been residences in the independent living program for 8 months now and seem as happy as ever. But there is something to say about my personal experience that I just couldn't keep to myself. First of all, the food is absolutely delicious. Brunch & dinner really hit the spot; a perfect match for my palette! Secondly, the laundry detergent reminded me of back at home.. On the way there my sister spilt a whole tub of mayo on my favourite shirt, and to my surprise the crew at the Manor were more than happy to take care of it for me. I wish I could've stayed longer Grandma and Grandpa, hopefully next time we'll have time to check out the surrounding area. It seems beautiful, and I promise to leave the mayo at home. Say hi to Britt for me!Till next time <3Your Grandson,J

My dear cousin went into here for convalescent care after a hip surgery. She was only supposed to be here for a couple of weeks and then return to her condo, but somehow the people in here managed to get her held as incapable of caring for herself, etc. They put her through mental tests and tried their best to have her declared a danger to herself. The room was abhorrent, the care-workers were inattentive, and the place was one of the most depressing places I have ever been. My cousin's children and I had to work together to get her released from here. And we figured out why they wanted to hold her forever when we got the bill for her stay which suddenly became more than a month, they just wanted to drain her bank account. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

So thankful to have my grandparents here. I’m able to have peace of mind knowing they’re well taken care of.
