George Leslie House
Possibly the oldest house in Vancouver. George Washington Leslie, a plasterer from Cape Breton, traveled west for the rebuilding of Vancouver after the great fire of 1886. The wooden frame Queen Anne style home was built by George and includes decorative trim, crown moldings, staircase with ornate balustrades and intricate plaster designs on the ceiling. In 1972 Famed Chef Umberto Menghi bought this two story house and opened the IL Giardino restaurant a year later. Today it's sits next to a thirty-nine story luxury condominium tower and is currently listed for sale! You could probably get it for bargain at 10 million dollars! There is a huge mosaic art installation next door as well as some interesting architecture close by.
