Whitby Karate

Great school , very receptive and interactive sensei, spacious place , well managed .

This Dojo has a very friendly atmosphere, it is a great learning enviorment for new students and those who have been training most of there life like my self. I recommend this Dojo to anyone who wants to get back into Karate or want to gain a new life skill that will always be with them.

My son love studying karate with Sensei Adrian Robichaud for 6 years now earning his belts confidently. Learning patience, discipline, strength and techniques. Excellent learning experience for all ages.

We have been a member at Whitby Karate since March. My son is enjoying the classes and the Sensei and instructors are really great with him. The location is ideal, lots of parking and close by for us. My son looks forward to his class every Tuesday and Thursday and I look forward to seeing him get his first belt at the end of the month. I would definitely recommend this dojo - they even let you do the first few classes for free.

I have been training with sensei Adrian for eight years. I find that his chiropractic knowledge has translated in a true understanding of body mechanics that makes my karate techniques more efficient and effective. His knowledge of other martial arts outside of Shorin Ryu has added to the depth and dimension of the classes. I am pleased to continue my studies with Sensei.

Have 2 young kids going to Whitby Karate for the past 8 months. As a parent I find the classes to be very well structured with the perfect amount of discipline. The kids have fun going yet understand and respect the rules and how to behave. I'm very impressed with both of my kids development and progress in such short time. Keep up the great work Sensei Adrian!!!!

Very positive learning environment. All ages and levels build confidence, fitness and have fun! My son has loved every minute and looks forward to his time in the dojo. Thank you Sensei Adrian and all the instructors for the excellent instruction and program.

My daughter had been going here for years and I have found it to be an excellent dojo. So good in fact, that I joined myself. Sensei Adrian is patient, knowledgeable and runs a very positive and empowering school. The art is traditional but the classes focus on strongly practical self defense. This is not point sparring Karate. The other black and brown belt students are highly involved and the environment is safe, respectful and motivating. I highly recommend this school for children and for an adult looking to learn.

Our boys are both with Whitby Karate and it's been a wonderful experience overall. Our oldest has been with the Dojo for over 3 years, and our youngest has joined recently because he loves what his brother knows! Sensei Adrian has many years of experience and is a very positive influence on our boys. His patience and kindness have helped our boys move forward with learning their karate skills, thank you Sensei Adrian. Highly recommended.

This is the best Dojo that I've had the pleasure of studying at. Unlike the other 3 that I've been to before it, it never feels like I'm wasting my time by being here, we do a wide variety of practical self-defense exercises (practicing flips, break-falling, knife-defenses, gun-defenses) as opposed to a stale routine of the same thing without much guidance until a yearly testing for the next belt making each class feel worthwhile. Our gradings are all at our own individual pace (slightly rounded so that more people will grade at the same time to save time): if the sensei feels that we're close to ready that he'll polish us up and grade us once he's seen all of the requirements we're graded and get the next belt. I know that if I'm not being graded than I know that I've fallen behind, and it compels me to work harder and feedback and tips are never far off because their is always a competent sensei and experienced senpai with a good eye and open ears to answer questions. A fantastic place to competently and productively learn Karate in an environment that is safe and open, you are free to come and go at any of the many open time slots for anyone with a sudden change in the unpredictable timetables of life at the drop of a dime.
