Ah, yes. Lumacare". Formerly Downsview Services for Seniors

Support workers can be better trained. They provide a service, but lack that little extra which makes a client feel safe ad comfortable. My mother received care, but the support worker was sketchy and items were missing everytime she visited.The day programs described by Lumacare sound great, but in actuality are not as good as described. The lunch program can have a better menu and better food.Lumacare boasts it’s inclusion and diversity provisions, especially within the LGBTQ community, but clients belonging to the LGBTQ community are treated not so positively and shunned by the personal support services representatives.

There was an employee there, her name was Laura Lavalee, a manager of client care, I believe. She was so friendly, open and ready to answer any questions I had. I've never been made to feel so welcome and appreciated and because of that I will recommend your organization to anyone I know in Ontario. If your team of employees are anything like her there then I am confident that it's a great organization looking to make a difference. I will definitely be making donations here this year!!

Very unorganized unreliable company. STAY FAR AWAY from these guys!!!

Place was extremely noisy. I don't understand how loud pop music is supposed to help people with advanced dementia. After one visit, my father flatly refused to go back here.

Hi. This company is contracted to the Toronto Housing Community Buildings. They are located inside one at Jane and Wilson. The quality of the staff is poor and supervisors look to fight. It's almost like they pick up these people off the street to help these vulnerable seniors in subsidy housing. I know my family was there, they don't like when you refuse there service. CCAC has multiple complaints about these agencies around toronto.

Lumacare changed its name from Downsview Services for Seniors in an attempt to refresh and renew its reputation. The name change made no difference.It appears the executive team are more concerned about visual appearance rather than functional service. Poor quality of staff. I wish there was a local agency alternative to Lumacare for providing services to our vulnerable seniors.

My mom goes to the day program and she just loves it?
