My 99 year old mother was admitted through E.R. & they were wonderful! Have never had a complaint when having to go to CBRH.

It's better to die then go there. Unjustified waiting time they made me wait for 10 hours and after that they told me that yours condition is not critical you are not dying. I told me that I have exposed to rusted metal part injury and needs titnus injection within 24 hrs. No one bothered even the nurse was so cold and arrogant with her attitude. I requested them to give me just injection, the dressing can be done with the help of any friend still no one caredFor peop

I’m giving three stars because as a patient in this hospital I can’t say enough good things about it and the nurses. My complaint is with the Emergency Room and the long waits I’ve endured for a very serious issue resulting from an Esophageal Cancer surgery. Consistently food would get stuck in my esophageal remnant ( at the time that was the only term I knew) I know now it’s called a “ Food Bolus” and I can’t swallow so much as a sip of water or it comes out my nose. I need a scope to remove the food , but the triage nurses didn’t understand ,and because my vitals were normal I was left to wait up to sixteen hours ,at high risk of choking and aspiration into my lungs which I have done. . I’ve had doctors and nurses be terribly rude to me until I asked them to read my thoracic surgeons notes. Then the scope would be done if nothing else worked and I’d be admitted for the night sometimes. I was also in a great amount of pain this whole time which sometimes took two morphine shots to get rid of. I had surgery in March of 2021 which seems to have taken care of the problem. Also I am I senior and I have to put in here some triage nurses were rude and mean and some were nice .

Unorganized Emergency department due to being understaffed and laid out poorly. For the only functioning Emergency department around it should function better. Take tips from other hospitals supplement nursing staff with paramedics. Staff is great but NSHA is failing.

5 times to CBRH by ambulance since June. Have yet to figure out why I'm having the sickness im having. Lost so much weight. Have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Was put in the ambulance bay by an EHS worker calling me chikdish for crying in pain while I was naked and I have a recording of it, too. So this hospital better step up its game and if I die this year or next, most likely it's due to the lack of funding and proper space and staff.

I have been to at least a dozen different hospitals around the UK (as an inpatient and outpatient, private and NHS), two in France, and two in the USA. Cape Breton Regional Hospital is the cleanest hospital I have been to, the staff are by far the most friendly and helpful I have encountered (I have visited the x-ray and blood collection departments as an outpatient). Considering the additional stress of working throughout a pandemic, I was very impressed that all of the staff I interacted with were polite, friendly, helpful, and very efficient. I believe that the local residents should be very proud of this hospital's staff. Apparently the hospital is having a brand new building constructed which will make it the biggest hospital in the Province. I'd like to wish every success for the expansion project and pass on my gratitude to the wonderful staff for doing great jobs.

12 hours waiting & doc didn’t know what was wrong with me (dying in pain) so sent me home and scheduled an ultrasound. Had to be taken back by ambulance & waited 5 hours to see a doctor. He did some bloodwork, didn’t notice anything, sent me home with a prescription. Still in pain. Why can’t the staff do more tests? If your vitals are somewhat normal, you’re at the bottom of the list. There are people in severely bad shape that can get in before you, but, when the only way you get to see a doctor is because you’re literally screaming in pain, can’t stand or breathe, and all this happens in the waiting room after a 5 hour wait, in front of others, triage nurse just starting over at you, not bothering to help, you know there’s something wrong! If i could give no stars, I would!

I've had a recent experience with the CBRH, and I just want to say that the staff are awesome. They are working with a lot of challenges, and they get up and do it everyday, all of them ....the cleaners, the dietary staff, the maintenance, the nurses and paramedics and doctors and social workers, and volunteer agencies, just everybody you can think of are working so hard and with the best cheer they can muster at the time under some very trying circumstances. Even the people waiting for care are awesome, they're just tired and worried and experiencing more than just what brought them to CBRH. A lot of places can be considered the 'heart' of a community, but the 'soul' part is all the people in it, and all the work crews and the planning going on around the CBRH reflects that understanding, and I just want to say that I appreciate it.Give'r!

Came to the hospital for difficulty breathing along with chest and back pains from straining so hard to breathe. I was having an asthma attack. Was sent to the waiting area, after a hour I went back up the the triage nurse telling him I’m having a very hard time trying to catch my breath especially with the masks on I can’t breathe. He told me I could breathe because my stats were fine when I came in an hour ago. I’m telling him that I cannot and my inhaler is giving me no relief. He tells me it’s probably anxiety and he is not rushing me because I’m not sicker than half the people in the waiting area.I understand that people there are sick but when a person is telling you they can’t breathe and you brush it off instead of rechecking stats like breathing isn’t necessary.
