Haven't been to this location in a long time, since the pandemic. But since returning here I realized the portions are a lot smaller than before. The curry wasn't as flavourful as how I remembered it; there used to be more spices. Now its just plain and sweet. Which I guess is normal and expected for Japanese curry, but wished it was similar to before with a little bit more spices.Overall, decent for a quick curry bite and to quickly satisfy the Japanese curry cravings.

Nothing special. The dishes didn’t look anything like they did on the menu. The curry is good but not the best I’ve had and certainly not good enough to base the entire restaurant around it. The two entree items we got was something I could easily make at home and even better. In terms of the appetizers - the chicken skewer was dry, and the karage was bland and probably the worst karaage Ive ever had. The takoyakis were the best item out of all the dishes we tried. Service was decent but the food I was very dissatisfying.

Food - They have majority of savory food. I got their rice bowls, which I enjoyed. I would come back to try other food.Service - Quick, professional and nice. They had the area blocked off during COVID, but now it's open. They work hard!Ambiance - Bright, clean and your standard decor.

Go here if you need space because it was empty when we came. The service was good and fast but the portions are small. I had curry tonkatsu but felt the katsu was a bit tough/lean. Priced fairly cheap for the area but wouldn't be a top choice unless I felt desperate

We were by the area and after looking at the options at this mall decided to try this one. This looks interesting to us. This was a spacious store with simple and clean decorations. This restaurant serves mainly Japanese curry in a variety of dishes from rice to noodles. They specialize in the Kanzawa curry and beef bowl in Toronto. Their curry is prepared using traditional Japanese process and using their own recipes which were developed through long periods of boiling and blending according to different tastes and preferences to serve customers with an after taste of rich flavour. We ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry, Beef Sukiyaki and the Curry Beef Udon, all of them were delicious but we particularly like the Chicken Katsu. The portions don't look too big however we were surprisingly filled and satisfied. We will probably be back and try other dishes next time.  They only accept cash or debit in which I had to remove a star as it's very inconvenient.

Really expensive for what you get. The portions have gotten way smaller from when they first opened. I'm not a fan of curry so I got the beef sukiyaki udon/nabe and while it tasted good, for $17 I feel like I should've gotten more toppings like more veggies or mushrooms, not just Napa cabbage and tofu. I did like that they give you an egg and some rice to eat any leftover soup with

Japanese Curry | Comfort bowl | KatsuWas a bit disappointed by this franchised location. The interior design was standardized, the service was ok, the bathrooms were clean .... BUT when I got up out of my seat there was a GIANT spider on the floor beside me (I just got the chills just thinking about it).The food though .... The other locations were better.- The salad and it's dressing were not well mixed.- The soup could be heavier on the miso taste.- The yakitori was sadly dry and not even close to juicy.- The curry beef udon looked nothing like the picture. The soup tasted like watered down curry sauce. There seemed to be half the amount of beef than in the picture. There were also not a single piece of green onion (which the description clearly says there should be).- The katsu rice bowl could use more sauce.Overall none of the food wow'd me here at this location. If I'm in this plaza there are so many more options to choose from unless I'm craving for Japanese curry.

We ordered the curry udon and it came too sour in taste. Stomach didn't feel too good after eating. We told the server about it and she said that the manager is aware that the dish is sour bit it is normal". No apology. Nothing done to rectify situation. Disappointing. Not coming back again."

I was disappointed with the overall dining experience. The dishes were not appealing, and the restaurant atmosphere was quite soulless. We came in on a weekday night around 7:30 PM, and we were actually the only customers present dining in. I did not expect this because Gyugyuya looks to be properly themed and decorated. I liked their light fixtures and whatever they had posted on the wall.Service was good, but the food & food presentation was not. The takoyaki could have been perfect at 6 pcs for $6.99; however, the overall presentation and preparation were lacking. It was not properly slathered with sauce, and there were no bonito flakes. Their version of Takoyaki were just fried balls with one line of sauce sprayed on top. When I asked the waiter about it, she mentioned that they were not able to order the ingredients, and that is why it was how it was.Another thing on the menu I have sampled was the Gyu Cheese Curry ($16.99). I wanted to like it, but the dish was uninspired. It was not as cheesy and savory as I would have hoped, and the colors were not vibrant.

Food is pretty good but had to eat it wearing my jacket because it is as cold inside as it is outside
