Tropika
Tropika has been around for a long time if i remember correctly. They used to have many locations, but I think they closed some of them over the years.Tropika has been one of my favourites, their dishes are flavourful and good place for families.I always order their chicken satay, prawn cakes, pompano fish, pine apple fried rice and pork chops. I think those are my go to dishes.Their roti is also not bad, but personally not my taste. The restaurant used to get very busy and loud before covid-19. Service is very typical Asian restaurant, ie you have to flag down servers to get things. But food comes out fairly quickly and servers responds very promptly.I hope they don’t close more locations as it’ll be a shame to lose this restaurant from this city’s dining scene.

Tropika
A disappointing takeout meal from Tropika. Everything was mediocre, especially when paying $20+ for each dish. The Mee Goreng was very ketchuppy (no other flavors), the Hainanese Chicken was bland, the Rendang Lembu was just like regular curry. Definitely not the dry beef curry I was looking for. The Tropika Pan-Fried Mixture was ok but the menu said it comes with seafood. The only seafood I could see was dried shrimp. Not happy.

The satay was a bit dry but the flavour was good; the sambal shrimp was delicious but not as spicy as I had hoped; the hainanese chicken was juicy and steamed perfectly with dark soy sauce, red chilli, and grated ginger as condiment; last but not least, the roti was pretty firm and went well with curry sauce as the curry was strong. Also in all, Tropika is a place where you can eat various dishes for a good price but certainly not the best.

Roti canai....thats all I need here! Delicious authentic meals here. Things are slighly more oily but done with intention to style of food and flavouring. Besides the roti, would recommend the curry dishes. Many things worth trying and will probably go back to try more. Service was quick to serve here as a takeout.

Tropika is one of the few Malaysian/Indonesian/Singaporean restaurant in the city which I know has been a long standing institution. They offer classic dishes of this part of the world fairly consistently, but I also find they are consistently overly salty with their flavouring. The clam soup is one of my favourite, but I usually can't have more of it after small bowl because it gets too salty. Hoping the owners see this and improve on it! Their meat skewers are amazing with their peanut sauce. Their vegetables made the Malay style is also quite authentic, and reminds me of the same dish at hawker stands in Singapore. Service isn't great and pre-COVID the dining experience was quite loud and crowded, but my company and I would go because of the food. One of the hidden gems is their hot and sour soup which is better than most Shanghainese restaurants in the city - it is amazing!!! Again to the owners, please consider making your dishes a little less salty but otherwise highly recommend!!!!Revised - Jan 2023Quality and quantity still superb, with rich flavours and fresh ingredients. They make one of the best hot and sour soup in the city, a bit unexpected given Tropika is a Singaporean/Malaysian restaurant. Their meat skewers and peanut sauce is also fantastic. They really should consider increasing their evening hours to beyond 9 pm!

I was invited to a birthday get-together at this location. Food is great, very tasty. Staff is very friendly (specially server Bernie), and they never tire of walking around tables, keeping an eye out for service needed, or dish takeways for clean-up. I never once felt like being rushed to finish the meal, although we did stay for a couple of hours total from the time we were shown to our table. All in all, the experience was very pleasant. This place is recommendable if you're looking for Thailand and Malaysian cuisine fusion.

We always love having our family meals here and have discovered their takeouts are just as good! Their roti (and dipping curry) is still one of the best in town for us and we love their dry curry black cod!

Reservations are definitely recommended for weekend (evening) dinner plans. Service was good, they work efficiently in taking orders, changing plates that are full, re-assuring that your water glasses are always full and that the food is in good quality. The food usually tastes great. It can be slightly overpriced for some of their portions (not all). They didn't get 5 stars for this visit due to having found hair in my daughters drinking glass. They also politely" rushed us out by constantly asking if we were "done yet" - probably due to having others waiting at the door; which I found rude. We made proper reservations for 9 people and deserve to eat comfortably without feeling rushed."

Such a staple in the community! I really love South East Asian cuisine. Tropika delivers its own specific take and it's tasty! Lunch specials are generally a good deal but dinner pricing is nothing crazy. Go give them a try!

What a great place to have authentic Malaysian cuisine. The waiters were very attentive and the food came out quickly. A lot of variety as you can see from the pictures and glad I was able to try so many different dishes... I ended up taking a lot back home!
