Bruce has been a great instructor. He has provided my Wife and I the confidence to Safely operate and enjoy our motor boat. I see Bruce as a marriage saver. Providing us the tools to navigate the challenges and importance of the calm respectful team work needed to Capitan a vessel.Taking a basic powerboating skills course was a must for us considering our kids, family and/or guests that will be joining us on the boat are all precious cargo to us. Being Safe and Knowledgeable on the water is as important if not more than on land.Thank you Bruce!

Bruce is the BEST instructor! We travelled from Squamish to Sidney with our 22' power boat for four days on the water and it was definitely worth it! Bruce is extremely patient, calm, professional, knowledgeable and thorough. You can really tell he loves what he does! He has so much experience and great stories! Bruce went above and beyond when we had a mechanical issue on the water, and we were so grateful to have had him with us. We highly recommend Gulf Islands Cruising School and can't wait to return!

Bruce Scott came from Sydney to our boat in Maple Bay the same day after I phoned him in the morning . Our insurance provider required us to be evaluated on our boat handling skills prior to issuing a policy. This left us with no insurance after purchase day. Bruce gave us a brain expanding amount of information and instruction during our session and sent us a report the next day, I forwarded it and we received our policy the same day. My partner and I had the pleasure or working with Bruce over a two day teaching period where he went over the fundamental basics of sailing, safety and the rules of the waterways in our area. Having never been on a sailboat prior to this experience, my partner was a little apprehensive.Bruce's teaching style, patience, and eagerness the share his wealth of knowledge turned two days of what could have been overwhelming, into something that seemed like a walk in the park.Bruce's stories and witty sense of humour kept the two days of instruction light hearted and entertaining while still maintaining a high level of professionalism and focus on safety. His calm demeanour and knowledge turned our lack of experience into an incredible learning experience.From a safety check before departing to making sure all safety equipment was on board and in working order, to tying a simple cleat hitch at the end of our sailing day, Bruce covered it all. Bruce took extra time before we departed to make sure we understood how our inflatable PFDs worked and what to expect should one of us fall overboard.He's referred to as the 'wizard' and I now understand why. Bruce is a walking encyclopedia of everything sailing, which makes sense since he's been at it since he was five or six.If you are looking for a sailing instructor look no further as Bruce is in my opinion one of if not the best instructor available.We look forward to spending more time with Bruce in the coming months.
