The Food Bank of York Region

I recently volunteered at the food bank distribution centre, concord location. I volunteered there once and will not volunteer there again as the volunteers are not treated well. The individual in charge is too harsh which has a detrimental affect on the volunteers. An audit should be conducted to ensure the right people are in charge and things are done correctly.

Due to COVID-19 and on disability, cost of living and the support from fbyr kept us feed and the Christmas Hamper received this week, special thanks to the donors,the fbyr and their hard work staff and drivers. Thank you and Happy Holidays.

We have to do what we can to help our homeless community. Due to price wage increase the small business and government are looking to hire overseas so that they don’t have to pay but in the end what happens to our people. Please give to the food banks in your areas it helps a lot of families

I am sure this organization has helped many people, however, I had an awful experience as a volunteer. The person in charge constantly yelled at me for not working fast enough, despite it being my first day. It was a very demotivating experience, which is really sad considering contributing to community service programs can be such a wonderful thing and should be treated as such. When I tried talking normally to her, she was very cold and unkind. I feel like volunteers should be shown that their position in society is valued and appreciated. I left this organization feeling hurt, undermined and belittled. I would not return unless the people in charge changed their approach and fostered a more inclusive, caring environment

The company I work for has partnered with the Food Bank of York Region this year and we'll be volunteering at their sorting and packing facility twice per month. The FBYR team is amazing and incredibly accommodating whenever it comes to us scheduling our monthly volunteer dates. They're helpful and super-friendly whenever we've been on site, too, packing and sorting donations. It's hard work but SO worth it knowing that our efforts are helping the community. If you're looking for somewhere to volunteer your time in Vaughan, I'd highly recommend the FBYR. It's a wonderful space with wonderful people!

While watching the Grey Cup telecast this evening a Food Bank commercial came on - to my surprise people were happily delivering red bags filled with food to a neighbourhood with what appeared to consist of large million dollar houses. Next scene showed a family sitting at a table in the kitchen filed with all modern conveniences and decorated to the hilt.I know people that have donated to the food bank that can only dream of being as well off as the people in that commercial.

I have been volunteering at the Food Bank of York Region for about a month now. Excellent organization and love the experience. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend volunteering here.

I have had the pleasure of volunteering at The Food Bank of York Region. There is an incredible team here that does the most they can do in order to support members of the community. If you are looking for a way to get involved, I highly suggesting volunteering with FBYR. You will be welcomed with open arms by a team that needs more help. Especially with the COVID-19 pandemic and the holidays coming up, more volunteers are desperately needed.

Waiting over 2 weeks after an online application. I called and was greeted by someone who clearly did not want to there. She said to wait 3 weeks before another inquiry. I thought it was 3 weeks between not 3 weeks to hope for a delivery?
