The Lower Deck
The food was delicious, but that’s where our experience stops being positive. We started with a long wait, then our order was wrong and the waitress did not put part of our order in, so we sat waiting for my meal, while my husbands was getting cold in front of him. After we ate, I needed to use the restroom….we’ll I’m very glad I went after I ate, or we would not have stayed. The washrooms are directly behind the “kitchen” and the smell of urine hits you before you even get near the doors. The wait for our bill was to the point where we almost left because of it. We’re 15 minutes in and still don’t have it. Terrible experience. We will not be back.

Beautiful spot! Employees are very friendly and make you feel at home. Service was great and staff checked in often. Fish and chips were great! Nice portion size and the taste is exceptional. There was live entertainment and the place was lively. I really enjoyed myself and the food!

It's a small space, but it's a lot of fun. The bartenders are cool, the vibe is authentic and the live music is amazing. :) It has a really comforting atmosphere.

Had our Wedding in the Tap room on the top floor and it was the best. We had about 100 guests and a live music and everyone had enough room still to move around with the extra rooms and places to relax.Would recommend for anyone wanting to host a party here.

The Lower Deck
Awesome venue for a small-medium sized wedding. We've photographed here multiple times and it's always been an absolute treat! The decor is really rustic, super into the wooden slats and dope spot for dancing. It's also right in the historic properties on the waterfront which is perfect for portraits, and super beautiful! It is a dark venue but as long as you hire photographers who know how to shoot there, you are golden. 10/10 recommend!

We had our wedding at lower deck and I really can’t say enough about the entire team. Laura and Larissa are beyond amazing. They are so well organized and basically took away all my stress. The staff were so lovely and every guest commented how great the food was. Thank you to the lower deck team for making our day absolutely perfect. Would highly recommend!!

The staff who served me and my sister on Sunday, January 29, was incredible and I thought the bartender went above and beyond! Signal Hill was amazing and we loved all the songs they played (we only got to finish the first set). However, we experienced racism from another customer in this pub. The other customer passed by our table as I was recording the band (like everyone else in the pub) and commented “Chinese stinks”. I thought I misheard what the other customer said until I replayed the video. I then noticed me and my sister were the only Asians in the pub. It was a very disappointing experience as it was our first time in Halifax and this place came highly recommended by couple of friends who live in the area. We loved the band and wanted to stay to the end of last set but had to leave as my sister feared we might be harassed.

I mean what can you say about this iconic location. We went for supper and a beer but ended up staying until last call. The band that playing that night was excellent and once the place got busy we just ended up staying. Despite the place being extremely full the staff was attentive.I would not recommend this place to anyone who gets claustrophobic as once the band starts playing it is very hard to move. We were there on a Wednesday evening and it was a busy as a Friday night.Otherwise we had a great Night and of course I highly recommend the lower deck for a true maritime experience
