I'm using my wife's FB page, I dont have one.Tom was referred to my Mom through her hairdresser. In October of 2020, we agreed to have him paint her house, repair some spots with bad wood, repair and paint six shutters, fabricated two additional shutters, paint the fence and storage shed. The work was to be completed before Thanksgiving. Paid him $1134 on 10/6/20, then $1133 on 10/22/20, then $1000 and $225 on 11/10/20; with the assurance that all the work would be completed before 11/27/20.Then the excuses began. Truck broke down, its going to rain, its too cold, etc. I was told painting could not be done if the temperature is below 45F degrees. There were many weeks, too many weeks, that the temperature in RVA was in the upper 50's to mid-60's. He was a no-show. Tom's sister was doing the prep work prior to painting. She showed up regularly and I can only say she is as dilligent and hard working a person.While painting Tom broke two double-pane thermo Anderson windows. Tom said he would repair the first one for $225, which I paid as a good faith gesture. The second he would have to absorb cost and pay for himself. Neither of these windows were repaired.Finally, on 3/23/21, almost four months after the job was supposed to be completed, I let Tom go. My patience was exhausted.I will say he and his sister did a really good job on the work they completed. Last week I texted him to say I would split the $962 it cost to replace the windows he broke; no response.Lastly, Tom never returned my Mom's shutters. I texted him two times to let him know I would be in RVA on 3/29/21 and would appreciate his returning my Mom's property. I could then hang them while in town. Again, no response.I appreciate the opportunity to share my experiences with Tom and Sampson's Handyman in RVA. I am beyond disappointed. The stress and frustration he caused my 85 year old mother is inexcusable and unacceptable. I/we treated him with patience and respect. He did not extend the same professional courtesy to us.Caveat emptor.

Mr. Sampson is a very hardworking guy. He takes the time to make sure everything is done correctly and professionally. He’s very polite with his customers and family.
