Garden City Comedy

This is my favourite thing to do on a Friday night! Kevin's improv classes are accessible and fun. There's no pressure to be funny, but I end up laughing in every single class. A great form of stress relief during Covid.I've never done improv before. Kevin broke the process down so expertly, that I found myself feeling more and more comfortable from the very first lesson.I've also made some good friends in the class and we hang out after/outside class quite frequently.Yes.. and! Bring more sauce! Strong but wrong all the way!!!

After six weeks of complimentary classes Kevin told me I was not on his list to perform with the troupe we discussed. He finally told me about a skill I was missing in the class but by then I was so hurt that I never returned. I found this behaviour unprofessional and do not recommend.

My only previous exposure to improv was mainly a certain popular TV show. I took the GCC Improv 101 class in the fall of 2021 as an opportunity to stretch myself and get out of my comfort zone, which it certainly did. I initially thought I'd take one class, but due to Kevin's expertise, teaching experience, and encouragement, I'm now in the 401 class - still growing, stretching and enjoying the laughter, as well meeting new people. Kevin is passionate about the craft and supportive of his students. If you're thinking about exploring improv, GCCs classes are an excellent way to get started.

Being part of Kevin Matviw's Garden City Comedy Improv classes is 150% fabulous. In addition to being oodles of fun, I have learned so much about the art of improv, I've improved my stage presence, I have gained a handiness with performing in a team, and I've made so many fine friends. I especially appreciate Kevin's method of teaching, his patience, and his endless devotion to outfitting each of his students with the skills and experiences needed for us to delight our audiences with high-quality improv.
