West Hillhurst Community Association

A great addition for the community of West Hillhurst. Many very affordable fitness options and one of the finest squash groups in the city. For many of the squash players its a hidden gem ! An excellent box ladder with over 100 male/female participants of all levels and yearly club tournament. It's never hard to find a game. The ice rink is being renovated and is expected to reopen in the fall of 2017. 3 Tennis Courts outside which were repaved in 2010, very playable and great on a sunny day. The facility is aging however management and staff are doing their best to keep it up to date.

Great local community centre with lots of affordable fitness options compared to chain gyms. They also have childcare and when the roof on the arena is fixed, free drop in skating for members. Loved having the Barn pub upstairs and hope it reopens when construction is done.

Worst experience here, would not go back. Was kicked off a squash court mid game for someone who would only play on that specific court, even though we had already booked and been playing on that court. Tried to speak to staff member but she disappeared. Extremely rude, poor service. Was going to buy a family membership today but definitely not here now after that.

Health Club Review. This place is perfect if you are looking for a small gym that is not crowded at a very reasonable cost. It has all the basic equipment and you almost never need to wait to use anything. If you play squash you probably already know this place. It has 3 courts and it gets busy at evenings but if you are organized you can reserve online a couple of weeks in advance and you will find a spot most of the time. You also have two tennis courts open when weather permits. Dressing rooms have a couple of showers, there is always an empty locker (bring your own lock) and clean.

Nice small intimate health club. Very good squash courts. Work out equipment fairly sparse but adequate for a reasonable work out. When equipment breaks down it usually takes a long time for repairs to be done. Overall the maintenance around the club is adequate but not stellar. Change rooms not fancy, but functional. Cleanliness around the club could be better. Overall friendliness around the club is excellent.

Commenting on the Arena only - the dressing rooms are very small and the parking lot is too but given the age of the arena, makes sense. It's a great option having a pub available. Food service has been very slow however as I don't think they have a large capacity to handle regular eating times. Decent amount of beers available for such a small location.

Great place to play squash. Very clean facility, and very nice staff. The rates are reasonable as well. It is in a very convenient location, well worth it even coming from the south. The yearly rates are affordable, and well worth it. I go every Monday, and have yet to have a bad experience. Even the other members are helpful and friendly. Couldn't ask for more.

Specifically speaking about the Arena, the parking lot and dressing rooms are both relatively small, but given the arena's antiquity, this is understandable. The availability of a bar is a fantastic choice. Nevertheless, because I don't believe they have a large enough capacity to serve regular eating hours, food service has been quite slow. For such a tiny place, there are a respectable number of beers offered.
