Kamloops North

Only 1 bathroom was open and there was lots of people that got off the train to use it.

This seems to be a major train station in British Columbia, Canada. The VIA Rail train which we boarded at Jasper, Alberta en-route to Vancouver halted here for more than an hour. We traveled in July 2019. It is an important refueling and maintenance stop for the trains. The scenery was not as beautiful as the other parts of the province. We were allowed to alight and stretch our legs on the platform. We also saw a 'Rocky Mountaineer' tourist train while waiting around.

Oh you mean the derelict shed hidden behind the CN operations center? It's the icing on the cake after taking 15 hours to get there from Vancouver. I don't understand how VIA employees do it; I lost the will to live after one trip. I'd refuse free prestige class to Toronto. Never Again.

Terrible. We arrived early for Midnight train to Jasper and the station was locked. It is located in the middle of active freight rail yards, and hard to find in the dark. Seems sketchy. No food or washrooms available as building was locked up. CN Engineer helped us and gave us information that Via was late, even though we have the via app that is supposed to give updates. Wow, Canada, we can do better than this.

ViaRail is a joke. Lied about my toronto to Vancouver trip. Told me pet friendly but cannot give adequate washroom times. Dog could be cages for 20 hours straight. Only ham and cheese sandwich for 8 bucks. 15-45 min station stops. Was a nightmare of 4 days. Not to mention if your economy, you don't get meals like cabins. Which is a steep 3600 compared to the 700 for a seat.Joke. Farce. Waste of time

... Yes this is really the train station for the via rail.After asking some of the locals how we get to the train station, they convinced us that the North train station is only for cargo trains. On the website of via rail we found 3 different train stations for Kamloops...?! So we were close to go to the downtown station, but our tickets said Kamloops north. However eventually we got a taxi to get to the north station. There is no other way of getting there other than walking. Our train left at 6:35 and that was about when the first buses were going north of Kamloops, so no way of taking the bus to the station and getting there on time. Anyhow the buses would have only come close, not right to the station, according to Google maps and then we would have had to walk for another 30 minutes.Long story short, this is the train station going to jasper and beyond and via rail should definitely update it's site and make it more traveler friendly.

The Keg restaurant is close by and never fails to deliver. The parks are close to. The one that allows dogs stay away from if your not a dog owner. Smells like dog poop everywhere. Very close to downtown core which is cozy and well looked after.

I saw it from inside the train. It looked attractive and had an inside seating and waiting area. Much better than many VIA Rail stops.

We arrived at 11:00 to catch our train to Jasper. Arrived at the dark, desolate & muddy site only to find station locked. Rang Via rail who informed us station is not open/manned at night & we just have to wait outside in the cold(!) until it arrives. Not impressed ViaRail.
