H&R Block

I left super satisfied with the service and completion of the process. Cathy (the tax expert) and the front desk lady were welcoming, helpful, friendly and so lovely with me and my family. Both professional and competent, we had great results in the two years we did our tax return there and everything was resolved very quickly.

Terrible experience. Had taxes done by Smriti who was extremely condescending and even laughed at me. Go literally anywhere else, or better yet, just do them yourself.

Been here 3 times already lady came out and told me to go have lunch and that she'll phone me back when it's time for my appointment. She didn't phone back until a month later. Just left there they made me wait for 30 minutes and still nobody came to help me. And I showed up early too!

I came to have my 2021+2022 taxes filed. I had an EXCELLENT experience with Cathy. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and explained everything clearly. She had great advice and suggestions on how to go about certain things. I will be going back for sure!!!!

The Admin receptionist is without doubt very kind and helpful and I appreciated very much how she was able to book me in. I had called in after reading the many wonderful reviews about a certain tax specialist, and despite a negative experience a few years back at the Crowfoot location. The upper management went above and beyond to help rectify the situation and really it was only finances that did not allow me to file through HR Block the past few years due to some personal circumstances. This year I decided that HR Block and been so kind and gracious with my particular situation that I would come back. I was unfortunately very disappointed in the tax specialist who I had chosen based upon the fantastic reviews I had read about her, Cathy. She was not very friendly, a bit stuck up and through her mask I don't think she smiled once? I was wondering what did I do , or did I come at a bad time? First of all she was late which was ok, it was April 20 and a busy time and then it hit me that perhaps she had become aware of the negative situation I had a few years back and I felt that she had made a judgement about me from the get go? Now I could be 100% wrong but at I think I can pick up on a negative interaction. She was a bit condescending towards me when I presented my medical /pxn bills and said I couldn't use them and that my spouse should have had these to file with his taxes. Well I am not a tax specialist so I wouldn't have known that plus she does not know of my personal situation and the fact is that I paid for all these out of pocket expenses and she assumed that I was not doing things for the good of my family in a statement she said to me. Then when I forgot a receipt that was work related, she again in a condescending tone said I should keep a folder for all tax related items and this is AFTER I had showed her my folder that I said I keep for all tax related items and I even showed her the HR Block tax preparation check list that I keep with it during the year. I honestly don't think I was wrong in my assumption about her attitude with me and I am sure it will be very surprising given all the wonderful and exceptional positive comments about her. At the end of the session she seemed in quite a bit of a hurry and told me that she had another appointment so basically it turned out that she was not really the person that I had read about in all the comments. Also another point, I had dropped off my tax papers in 2021 for when I had last done my taxes with HR BLOCK at the Dalhousie location and so was very surprised that I was handed these back to me upon my arrival. I was not notified for two years that my papers were there for pick up and I do take responsibility for this as I should have remembered myself to pick them up but I have to say I absolutely forgot and assumed that I had filed them securely somewhere, but there was no email during the past two years that they thankfully still had them. Anyways, I am sorry for leaving such a comment but again HR Block is a great company it is unfortunate that I have had now two negative experiences with two different tax specialists. I wish I had just gone to Anne who helped me in 2021 and was assigned to me by upper management as she was helpful and I didn't have a chance to actually meet her due to pandemic situation with no face to face interactions.

Can’t say enough good about Cathy. She’s basically a rock star—but with your taxes. I had done my own return online and after seeing the insignificant amount that my return would be, thought I’d try to take it in to see how different my return would be.Cathy was able to track down so many small things for me that eventually added up to an incredible tax return—all while being the most pleasant human.Cannot recommend Cathy enough !!

Cathy has been an absolutely amazing person to work with. I brought her a fairly complicated business tax situation which was over my head, and she explained every step of the way in a clear and professional manner. She worked above and beyond to get through several years of books, and did everything she legally could to minimize any amounts owing. She is a kind and compassionate person and I would recommend her to anyone needing tax assistance. I called H&R Block asking for her because of the previous wonderful reviews I had read, and they were all true. An absolute professional and wonderful person. Thank you Cathy!

I have gotten my taxes done here, by Cathy (She's the best), for the last three years in a row. They make it very easy from start to finish and the price has always been fair. I've gotten very reasonable returns and it has always been easy to get an appointment.
