Class was very informative. Shannon provided tools to assist us with training our puppy, Gus. Although direction and guidance is provided in class, all of the work is done at home. We noticed a significant difference in Gus's abilities to follow directions after working with the tools provided in class. When we struggled during class, Shannon took the time to provide us with one on one instruction. Gus is a high energy springer spaniel, but somehow he was very focused in class. He was an A student and we have Shannon to thank for that!

Shannon's expertise is remarkable! Her knowledge, caring personality, and communication skills make her a top notch dog trainer. We were really impressed with how Shannon broke down complex behaviors into bit size information to make it digestible as dog owners. I cannot say enough good things about Puppy Essentials class with Spot On Dog Training and Beth.I am so happy I took the time to find such a great positive reinforcement class. It was better than I expected from a puppy class, and helped us set up our first puppy for a great start.One of my favorite experiences was a walk on the weekend before our last class. We encountered a friendly man and his aged Greyhound. He let us know his dog would be scared if the puppy jumped up at him. So we kept Theo sitting and rewarded him while we had a nice chat.I think the format of the class set us up for this to be a success. Beth had us keep the puppies to their areas until the last couple of classes when they were allowed some off-leash play sessions. So Theo had been learning that other dogs can be around but you don't always get to say Hello or play.He learned a ton, loves tunnels and grew a little bit through the weeks. Excited to continue working with our puppy and learning more.

We have attended two puppy class sessions so far with our high energy 4 month old pup and I have already noticed great improvements in her behaviour. She now knows a number of different commands and the socialization with the other puppies has been great for her to get used to other dogs too. Shannon is a wonderful teacher and I would recommend Spot on Dog Training to anyone!

Shannon was a HUGE help with my 6 year old dachshund who has anxiety and was having trouble settling into our new house. With patience, thoughtfulness and kindness, Shannon guided us through and helped us to better understand our dog's behaviour and established a well-researched and effective training plan. She is approachable, accessible, quick to respond and super smart. I would have paid 10 times the amount of an intro session for its value. If you need to improve or modify your dog's behaviour or better understand them, Shannon is your girl. My dog's life (and mine) has improved so much as a result of using her services.

My dog started to show signs of reactivity and I was soon unable to take him anywhere. I reached out to Shannon about our situation and she was so helpful and educational, and compassionate. Working through behavior issues can be frustrating and embarrassing at times, but Shannon makes us feel welcome and like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We have been working with her now for about 7 months and I have learned so much and my pup is showing great improvement. Shannon is fantastic and I would recommend her for both group classes and private training :)

Shannon is an amazing dog trainer! After our first session with Shannon, I felt hopeful for the first time that we can actually succeed with dog training. I feel empowered with the tools and knowledge that Shannon provides us with. We are doing a combination of personal one on one training as well as group class, and we definitely highly recommend this pathway to anyone who wants a well behaved dog. I really feel like Shannon listens to our concerns and her advice is always thoughtful and specific to our dog and situation. There are a lot of great trainers on the island that, if you have a neurotypical dog, have done amazing things. But when you have a dog that has shown reactivity and anxiety it can be harder to find someone willing to work with and help support you through that journey. Shannon and her team at Spot on Dog Training are those special people!I can't recommend them enough if you are struggling with understanding your dog, unsure where or what to do, at a loss of how to help your pup contact Shannon. Heck, even if you have a puppy with no issues, contact them because I know they will help you and your pup build a strong foundation!I was a bit nervous to start working with them because I was scared that Finnigan was too far gone or that I had somehow caused his reactivity (or made it worse) but Shannon helped put those thoughts to bed. She works with you and most importantly, where you are in your journey in a safe environment. She was so supportive and helped me understand Finn better and ways that I can help him. She helped give me a good base to start building on and get ready for this (sometimes rocky) journey.She also had an open and honest conversation with me about our reactive training journey and what I can expect. That it will probably be hard and have a lot more ups and downs, and for both our qualities of life, I may want to consider behavioral meds. That was something I appreciated because it was always in the back of my mind but I just needed that confirmation. To give him the best quality of life and help him become the most confident and happy dog he can be, we just needed an extra hand to get there.Finn and I will be recommending Shannon and Spot on Dogs to anyone I know who needs a little extra help with their doggo!

We called Shannon to help with our French Bulldog’s food issues - she had been refusing food frequently, getting anxious around meal times, and had finally stopped eating altogether unless we hand fed her. Shannon was extremely kind and knowledgeable. In one session she was able to teach us not only what was going on with our dog’s behaviour, but also the strategies to get her reliably eating. Within just 2 weeks of consistent training, our dog started eating full meals without any assistance. We are so grateful to Shannon and highly recommend her to anyone who is struggling with their dog not eating reliably or for any other behavioural issues!
