The Cholas

My daughter & I choose The Cholas for dinner before a movie. The restaurant is quite big with numerous tables.The woman who waited on us was very kind and efficient. She was willing to answer any question we had.However, we had too many questions as they menu, which was extensive, did not have any descriptions as to what the dish's ingredients were. Since we are somewhat unfamiliar with most of the dishes, she would have had to describe almost the whole menu to us. Having a description or pictures would have allowed us to branch out a bit more. So as a result we chose items we were familiar with.We choose the veggie pakoda, jeera rice & butter chicken.The pakoda came very quickly and were nicely presented. They came with a green sauce that had a real kick. I enjoyed it, although it took my breath away the first time. LOL. The pakoda itself was very bland. The fritters were so tiny they had little taste after they were fried. Perhaps it is a preference or cultural differences but other pakoda I have had were bigger with a more moister & vegetable taste.My daughter wanted to try the jeera rice and we both enjoyed it. It was a large helping and smelled delicious.Now for the butter chicken. This was definitely the star of the meal. It was so tasty. The gravy was rich and every so tasty. There was plenty of tender tasty chicken pieces in the gravy. We couldn't eat it all despite having not really eaten the pakoda. I was happy to take the rest home. I stopped myself from licking the bowl at the restaurant.The butter chicken was just as delish the next day for lunch. But this time I did lick the bowl.We definitely will be back. Perhaps we will research some of the different dishes before then.

What a gem of a restaurant! Family-run business and the owner took time to explain the different dishes to us. We tried the Gobi 65 (wonderful, flavourful) and two different doses (onion chili and pav baji). Oh my! Crisp and light... Rich sauces... The ingredients are prepared fresh when you order and you can taste the difference in the food. Service and food 10/10! We'll be back!

The food here is absolutely amazing! I had their chili mushrooms, dahi vada and pizza uttapam. Everything was great, but those mushrooms were the best item by far. Crispy outside, juicy inside, and perfectly spiced.

The food and service here was great. If you enjoy good food and a nice atmosphere I would suggest giving this place a try. I know me and my family will be going back for sure to try some other dishes from them.

Really good! Loved the bread. It was a bit pricey for lunch. I would go back again and try different things. Had some spice and so much Flavor.

The Chicken Biryani was served in a plate (not in a separate bowl), no raita or anything extra. It was ok and tasted like a homemade one but not as you would expect at a restaurant; far from the authentic Hyderabadi dum biryani taste.The chicken noodles were delicious. I think their portions are smaller overall. Limited menu, Masala chai was not good.[Feb 3, 7:30 PM]

Ordered Chilli Mushroom and Andhra Karam + Pav Bhai Dosas. The food is Yummy and advise to try at least once at this place.“The best Indian restaurant with in the city with variety of food options”.

The food was just awesomely sumptuous. The Idlis were extremely soft, Dosas were crisp, the Coconut Chutney was fresh made. The superstar was Sambar, as this is something, which always is disappointing. To our surprise, it was awesome. The service was quick and very pleasant. Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AUTHENTIC SOUTH INDIAN FOOD.... LOVED IT...

As a foodie, and somewhat of a raving fan of South Indian cuisine, thanks to being a transplant myself from over 25 years ago, I take up every opportunity I get to try out South Indian Cuisine.I am so glad I drove across town to this absolute gem of a restaurant, The Cholas.You could mistake it for a very clean modern fast food vibe but the interior was cozy, ambience was bright, tables were clean and the food......took me half way around the world back to Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.Absolutely finger lickin delicious. Add to that, the warm and friendly service, The Cholas is not a place you should miss if your taste buds crave authentic south indian delicacies.

Had such an amazing lunch here yesterday. The food tasted so good just homemade!!! The service was excellent, the husband and wife were really hard working and recommended us good food options as well. Loved the MASALA DOSA, the best we had so far!!!
