Date of Visit: Feb 11, 2023Calgary is a BBQ town – when we looked up Best BBQ in Calgary – there were so many options to choose from – making it very hard to choose.We made the decision to go to South Block BBQ based on the menu and reviews we saw online.Brisket, beer, unique sides, and so much more.The place is huge, and the seating is picnic table style.The Décor is dimly lit, with a heavy party vibeWe ordered brisket, turkey, dill pickle potato salad, corn and beans, corn bread. Everything was very tasty, full of flavour, and large portions. The meals are served family style and ala cart so you can share what you order. There was so much food, we could barely finish it all.The waitress was very friendly, attentive, and engaging. The food was served very quickly – we were surprise how quickly we got our food.The Place was extremely busy the night we were there (Saturday Evening) and so it was fairly noisy and hard to hear.The prices were very reasonable $17 for a pound of brisket or turkey, $6 sides, and $4 corn bread.Parking is limited – and it can be a challenge to find a place to park. (especially in winter when the streets are snow filled)This is a great place with great bbq meals.

Coworker referred this place to me as I travel for work. Awesome flavor on the brisket and ribs. Ribs were a bit tough, but it could have been an off day. Environment of this place was outstanding! If you want to taste more than just BBQ, then selection of bourbon, scotch and beer will please any thirsty party. Highly recommend!

The food, service, and vibe just make you feel very satisfied. The open concept layout just works, and I am a big fan of the warehouse wood pillars and patio sun room. The beer and food are amazing, and the scotch collection is extensive. All of this is just heightened with the wonderful service

The food was so good and affordable and the place it self was so cool looking!!! But what really made this a fantastic experience was our server Kelsey. She is such a sweetheart, so friendly, and provided an amazing service. I would come back just to see Kelsey and have her serve me again.

The best sandwich ever. It seems a burger. The meat is excellent. The potato salad as a side dish I had was amazing too. The beer tastes so natural and it is really delicious. The waitress was very nice. I definitely will come back.

Went there with a large group of people that took up two tables in the basement. The waitresses did an awesome job of keeping track of everyone even though we kept moving around.I ordered the apricot pork belly. It was nice and tender and I would order it again. My only criticism would be that the bites were not small enough to put in my mouth without cutting first but since it was served in a small bowl, cutting was a challenge.They only have one cider, which they make themselves. It’s awful. I wish I could describe the aftertaste. Maybe metallic? I was trying to force myself to drink it but when my friend sent back her beer because she didn’t like it, I decided to do the same. To their credit, they took it off the bill without further discussion, which was good customer service. Unfortunately, I switched to $16 cocktails.They had a solo artist with a guitar on stage. He was good but that kind of music isn’t conducive to dancing.The seating in the basement is comprised of long tables with benches running perpendicular to the stage. Each bench holds 6-7 people. Very difficult to sit down between two people and almost impossible if you are wearing a dress or skirt. You have to lift each leg up so high that you expose yourself.A couple odd things were that instead of filling up the tables in front of the stage those tables were left empty and they stuck us off to one side. So when the musician looked straight out from the stage, he just saw empty tables.Another very odd thing (shown in picture) is that they had preset the table with glasses of water. Those glasses sat there unattended for God only knows how long and anyone could have tampered with them.

Smoked Old Fashioned is a must. Plus the Turkey with extra butter is so damn delicious. I was very impressed with Erin who served a large group of us and remembered each name. I look forward to my next experience at South Block.

Great BBQ! We loved this place, lively atmosphere, great service and the meat, oh the meat!! They have an awesome selection of proteins like pulled pork, beef brisket, ribs & chicken etc. Plus they have an amazing selection of delicious sides that round out the meal. The portions are huge so plan to share and take the left-overs home. They have a vast selection of craft beers as well. This place is a carnivores dream. Enjoyed it very much!

Friends and I wanted to change up our BBQ dinner experience so we tried South Block for the first time.We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals: Pulled Pork with Slaw, Brisket with Brocolli Salad, and Side Ribs with Bean & Corn Salad.
