I recently downsized and was looking for a charity to donate many items in good to excellent condition. Ones made known to me did not have the customer service focus for donations I found with this society. The others were either no longer picking up, would do so after a significant wait or did not respond to an enquiry.A contact referred me to this society. For that I am so grateful. When I called they responded within an hour, accepted all of the good identified & were sympathetic to my need for a speedy pick up. So much so they were at my home that evening. The pickup crew was on time, polite & friendly. For this service such a minimal donation was requested to cover expenses. I was unaware of this group of kind & community minded individuals and highly recommend them. Please consider them for any of your good items needing a new home. The are so many others not as fortunate to ever consider donating regardless of the desire to do so.Thank you to Helping Families in Need Society for all of your effortsBarbara

The place is good but the fat lady on the reception is really disrespectful or maybe racist and the white old man is worse than her . They don't respect people here it's the worst service Ever !!!

This place does not help family’s , you pay this big fee the just get your furniture! And if you want delivery they leave it in your front yard and expect you to figure out yet they are helping woman who are fleeing abuse. I myself moved across country to flee abuse to go to this place and be told they will drop my stuff in the yard and I’ll have to figure it out alone! I have no family no one here beside elderly social workers. They are rude , very ignorant and only worried about the money yet this is all donations witch you need to pay to give ? Explain that please the stuff is dirty , full of the last owners garbage and bugs ! Please look else where ! I’d also like to add they grade you on a chat list from picky rude extra they will treat you according to what they feel you are graded at. Ray is very inappropriate and has relations with some of the woman that come into the place where I watched someone show their chest to get things out of the donations. The elderly woman is so rude and will not even look at you intel you hand the money over and still speaks to you like you’re beneath her. They honestly prey on woman fleeing abuse !

Very bad experience. Scheduled a pick-up for today 2 weeks in advance, then I confirmed it yesterday, and the guy said they wouldn't be here til 1pm or so today. Elevator in my bldg was booked from 2pm onwards so I wouldn't be able to move stuff during the afternoon. That left a small window of time, but my move was small, so I wasn't worried. So the guys didn't show up at 1pm for the pick up and when I called, they just said they would be here sometime this afternoon. I can't move this afternoon! It's a holiday tomorrow and then I have to be out of my apartment! Luckily my stuff was small enough that I was able to disassemble it and walk it across the street to donate it to the thrift store, took me about 6 trips back and forth. If my stuff had been larger or if I wasn't near a place to donate it, I would have been totally screwed over!

Worst experience! Do NOT donate here! Ray is a scammer, he did not mention any fee until my furniture had already been picked up and taken away and then dropped it back on the front yard when I advised I was not aware of any fee to donate my items to a home in need. I am less than 1km from the donation center which is why I chose this location. Contact Dixon Society to donate furniture, they help woman with children in need and have no cost to the donator!

We found Helping Families via a quick Google search. Ray was one of the kindest and most caring people we’ve met. My partner and I needed some clothing and household items to be picked up last minute for donation and the service was incredible. Not only is it first class service, the charity itself is an amazing cause. I will be using them every time I need a donation pick up and wouldn’t hesitate to refer them to anybody looking.

Rude. Made assumptions without asking for details and turned away a family in desperate need.

I had a hard time understanding the person on the phone when I first called. However, waited for less than a week for a callback and the volunteers who came to my place were on time and polite. They moved a sofa, 5 chairs and 2 tables in one go! Minimum donation of $40 to schedule a pick-up. Would call them up again for future donations.

Everyone should donate all their spring cleaning and what not around the house here. This is one of few places in Lower Mainland where they give the items to people in need. Ie new refugees, immigrants, single family, displaced, etc etc. Ray has a very big heart and helps everyone he can. Also less waste to the dump if it can be used by someone in need. Def call ahead as sometimes you can’t just show up to drop off.

These volunteers are excellent and first class people helping others in the community. They came and picked up an entire apartment of furniture and household items. We gave a donation to assist with expenses and gas as they are not paid for the service. Their sole concern is the helping of families. What a class act. Everyone from Ray to Anthony were a joy to speak with and we were priviledged to have met them. We are from out of town and didn't know what to expect but I would recomend them 100%
