AMAZING. I shared the brisket and pulled pork with my 6 year old. It filled us both and we had leftovers. Cooked perfectly! We will definitely be returning.

Ordered the Combo Plate with selections of pulled pork and beef brisket; overall it was a generous size portion for one person. Corn bread size was surprisingly generous and tasted good, maybe a bit tad sweet for my liking. Beef brisket was also surprisingly moist and juicy; did not feel and taste any dryness at all. Pulled pork tasted tangy and quiet vinegary on first couple of bites, however it was set just right afterwards. Strong smoky taste from the beans; very flavorful and inviting. Decent coleslaw. Definitely missing homemade sweet ice tea to complete the dining experience. Can also do some more side selections e.g. collard greens, hush puppies. Arriving at home still with smoke smells on shirt, which was a good thing :). Overall strongly recommended.

Smokin’ George’s catered our wedding a few weeks ago and we couldn’t be happier with them! The food was delicious and very reasonably priced for 150 people. Lea was so easy to work with and very organized. We had dinner service on the dance floor and we so appreciated how quick they were to wrap up during speeches so that we could move right into our first dance. There were vegan and gluten free options and the menu was kid-friendly, so there was something for everyone. Smokin’ George’s Catering is a great choice for any event, big or small!

Overall a great meal - definitely recommend this place.Longer review: I got 3 piece fried chicken meal for the two kids and the mixed bbq platter for me.The Meat: The brisket was amazing. I'd just buy a ton of that next time. It was super tender and really juicy, not dry at all. Made my day having great flavoring. The fried chicken was crispy and perfectly cooked and the pork ribs were tasty and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I like the extra bottle of BBQ sauce on the table as well.The Sides: The beans were awesome, there was some texture there (as opposed to being just overcooked and all mushy) as the peppers in them weren't overcooked. Really enjoyed them. The coleslaw wasn't mayo-ee: it was a vinegar based coleslaw and hit the spot. The fries were in house cut and made but came out crispy so they were great. I got the cornbread too and it was moist and well made. The only possible negativity would be that I'd expect it to come out from a steamer and warm which it wasn't but that's a small issue in the whole meal.The service was friendly and the booths were comfortable so the whole experience was great. Would have liked a bit more meat, maybe one more pork rib but I'm guessing everyone would say the same.

Not a lot of options for US bbq in BC, let alone Nanaimo. But this is a solid spot for sure. Good variety of meats and sides. Would love a few of the other bbq styles other than Texas, but beggers can't be choosers round here.Not a lot of seating, and it's super popular here (for good reason). Don't worry, this food travels well. It's just as good a few minutes later chillin at home or at a park.

INCREDIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE. We stopped here for dinner on a whim on our way to the ferry. Everything we ordered was outstanding (pulled pork, mac & cheese, ribs, fries). We will def be back next time we visit Nanaimo.Thank you, George and team! Delicious!!!

I was very excited about trying smoking George's out since I moved here last year and finally got the chance to! I ordered the BBQ feast for takeout. It comes with BBQ ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, pulled chicken, and a bratwurst sausage. Accompanying the meal was cornbread, fries, beans, and slaw. We also got BBQ sauce with our meal. Overall good portions for the price and super friendly staff! Pickup from the restaurant was easy and efficient as well. However, I was a bit disappointed with the meats. The pulled pork was tender and juicy, tasted great with the sauce. The BBQ ribs were dry and underseasoned, any meat that didn't touch the outside was flavorless. Similarly, we expected the beef brisket to be juicy and smokey, but it was dry and rather bland. It was however, quite tender. The chicken was nice, I really enjoyed the pickles with them. Chicken could have been juicier too. The bratwurst had good flavors and a nice crunchy skin. We enjoyed our sides a lot, the cornbread was moist, beans were delicious, and the slaw's acidity was perfect with the heavy meats. The fries were half burnt though, but the unburnt ones were crunch and fluffy! Overall, it was a decent meal, a bit monotonous with the flavors and bland, but great service and packaging!

We were searching for somewhere to have lunch in the area and we were very lucky that we found and chose here. They were very accommodating to us...we had 2 kids with us (one in a stroller) and it was no problem. The owner and all the staff were super friendly. Good selection of beers which is a bonus. But, oh my, the food. Amazing! Everything we had was super tasty...but the ribs, I'd walk over broken glass to have those again. Just go here, you won't regret it.

Best BBQ on Vancouver Island. My personal favorite is the beef brisket but my wife loves the chicken. Great specials all the time. If you manage to be there when the smoked chicken tacos are available get them!I also highly recommend the beans and mac and cheese sides. Best beans I've ever had. So good!Super friendly staff and owner, clean restaurant with the busy kitchen in full view.Take a deep smell when you walk in. That BBQ aroma is amazing.
