I've been at Assumption for 5 years and I have to say since the new admin took over in 2021 things have gone downhill. It's really sad to see such a happy, full of life school become so dark. They've completely ruined our school spirit and sucked the life out of the school. We used to have spirit weeks, pep rally's, a ton of different events. Covid isn't a reason to not have a spirit day once in a while. School has gone back to normal now, but they still don't have any kind of events, other than an extremely limited buyout, that now costs $12 instead of the usual $2 or $5. Assumption had so much school spirit until the new admin took over. You can't even have a white dot on your shoe without it being confiscated. For 4 years i've been wearing a white long sleeve under my uniform shirt because it's too cold in the school, this year apparently it's inappropriate. Numerous students and teachers have complained about the temperature in the school and yet nothing has changed. The washrooms are randomly locked, never any soap and rarely toilet paper. Cafeteria is way too small, and you aren't allowed to move any chairs so good luck sitting with your friend group. They also use the same floor mop to clean the tables. Very sanitary. Everything costs money now. Want to wear your own clothes once a month? $20. Want to even attend the school? $65. Want to tryout for a sports team? $50. Want a jersey for that team? $50. Tried to speak to admin about issues and nothing was ever done to resolve them, still waiting for a teacher to call back from 2019. Don't send your kid to this school. Send them to Nelson or Corpus.
