It's outrageous how the minister has dealt with family sponsorship. He has not answered calls to prioritize family sponsorship after months of separated families have tried to contact him. My husband and I have been apart for more than ten months and the visa offices are silent. We understand that this is a pandemic but why are migrant workers and students prioritized over us? Something must be done. I was born in this beautiful country and am a loyal taxpayer. This treatment is unfair and unwarranted. Have some human empathy and compassion.

It is so agonizing when a government claims that family re-unification is a priority and then does absolutely nothing to process spousal sponsorship applications. Every enterprise that I know of has made adjustments months ago to deal with the ongoing crisis, how come they are doing nothing and continue to use it as an excuse to do nothing?? It's adds to the frustration when somehow they ARE processing international student visas and work visas but delaying the processing of family applications. For the past 6 months they haven't even been able to acknowledge the receipt of applications that are being sent to their office in Nova Scotia. That's completely unacceptable!!! They must have forgotten that their jobs as public servants is to SERVE the public! Please stop playing politics with a critical issue like family re-unification.

As a Canadian senior, married to an Egyptian National, and having waited 25 months for a decision on our Family Sponsorship, it is disappointing that int'l students and athletics, are more important than unification of families. There has been no direct response to our question of when Immigration is going to move quickly through the 1000's of backlogged files. We have asked for a Special Temporary Resident Visa so that our spouses could join us during COVID-19 while files are completed. Very disappointed by this Minister's priorities, because it certainly isn't reunification of families.

This guy knew about Paul Bernardos transfer three months before it happened, and then claimed to be shocked when it happened..,.

Spousal sponsorship has not given it any priority, has not responded to pleas to expedite applications and remove section 179 b and issue special visa to allow spouses to visit while application in process. We been waiting more than 1 year to unite with our families. The separation is torture.

It’s been a long time that we have applied for our PR (sponsored by spouse) and nothing has been updated by the office. I completely empathise with the situation but something definitely needs to be done. It is a difficult time for anyone to be alone, specially be away from the loved once. Kindly do something about this. #prioritizefamilysponsorship

Expedited visas for our spouses in HAÏTI...My husband has been asked to go to HAITI to do the biometric since December 2019. He is still there waiting for a decision on his application. He got injured in the earthquake that happened last week, August 14, in Haïti. Now he is homeless because the house he was living is badly damaged. This was reported to IRCC, still not a word from them. Just this silent that is more hurtful than everything else...

The only honourable thing you can do now assuming you have a soul is to apologize to the victims of Bernardo and step down. This country doesn’t need you holding us back, resign!

Spouses and children are separated due to delays in application, some of them haven't seen each other for years. But you are too busy with other important stuff.
