Hakka Town

BUYER BE AWARE! I truly honestly don't believe the this place deserves 4.9 rating.For those that are familiar with Hakka food from Toronto would agree with me. The taste of chili chicken is just far off. Tasted a bit too bold. The sauce is way too dark. Their portions are amazingly small for both meat and rice. Don't order the side steam rice for $2. Order at least 2 and you will have enough for yourself. They don't seem to have typical Hakka style pepper sauce. They lack in just about everything they offer. The Hakka noodle was just pure salt. It tasted like you are putting scoops of soy sauce in your mouth, it was too salty and disgusting. I phoned them to give them a feedback on how I think their portion is too small and the guy who answered the phone immediately got defensive. You could tell he was not willing to listen, but he rather gave so many reasons justifying how his portion is fair. business man with the right mindset would have openly listened and accepted any feedback and reflect. They weren't one of them. I do not expect any improvement from this place and I think you should stay away. Money better spent at Mcdonald's

Hubby & I were in Barrie for other business and found this authentic Hakka food last week. Amazing! Delicious!Located inside the Bayfield Mall.This is a family run business and they are so friendly.We came back again today as we found ourselves in Barrie, Ont again.We had Manchurian Chicken extra spicy, Shrimp fried rice extra spicy, Hakka Chicken noodles extra spicy, and Chili Chicken extra spicy. What a treat. Just as tasty and perfectly spiced as last week.We will be back again.

We use to eat chilli chicken in Scarborough a lot, then we moved to Barrie and missed it. Also went vegetarian so it was completely off the table. Then we were told about Hakka Town and WOW. They have vegan chilli chicken that tastes exactly like our place from Scarborough. The noodles are amazing too. This will be a weekly order for us now! I've heard amazing reviews on all their food. Portions are huge, the taste is amazing, you will not be disappointed.

In terms of hakka this place is the best in Barrie. There are a few Indian restaurants that claim they serve hakka but none of them come close. Only reason I give 3 stars is I've enjoyed hakka food for over 30 yrs in Scarborough, Mississauga and Brampton so I'm a bit biased. We ordered shrimp pakoras, extra spicy chili chicken, extra spicy manchurian tofu and mild chili tofu. Definitely not as spicy as would have liked but the flavours were there. I'm used to crispy shrimp pakoras and usually the ones I get have bit sized shrimp mixed with spices and chilies. These ones had 2 full shrimp and not as crispy and spicy as would have liked. Overall this place is a hidden gem in Barrie and one would not be disappointed with their food. This is a family run business who are great and very friendly!

One of best in Barrie.I had chilli chicken with gravy and without gravy, both were awesome.Rice are complimentary with chicken and quantities are good for one person.Definitely going back there and highly recommended for indo-Chinese food.

One of the best Hakka places I've ever been to! Hakka Town stands shoulder-to-shoulder with all the best restaurants in Scarborough, Markham, Mississauga, Burnaby, and Surrey.We got the Chilli Chicken Dry and Manchurian Chicken and it blew us away. Everything is made to order and it really shows on the freshness of every spoonful.The manchurian chicken had a wonderful complexity to the gravy. It's spicy, yes. But it's also layered with a wonderful sweetness and perfect balance of acidity. The chicken was perfectly cooked and not overbattered (as some Hakka places are wont to do).The chilli chicken dry had a beautiful roasted flavour, complemented by all the wonderful caramelized onions and veggies with the dish. Perfect spiciness too! (and yes, it's legit Hakka spicy - if it's a new cuisine for you, DO NOT underestimate it!)Shoutout to the friendly cashier too! She made sure we had no allergies and was super nice.We'd definitely swing by again if we're even remotely in the area.

Just found our new go to Hakka place!We were welcomed by Jonathan with all smiles and great service! This is a family owned restaurant.They make your food as you order and very fresh! Worth waiting for.We had the Chili Chicken and the Hakka Fried rice. We finished it to the very last grain of it! lol Very decent serving as well.Will go back for sure!

We went to Bayfield Mall to renew license at Service Ontario. We found Hakka Town food outlet at the mall.I ordered food not to have traditional spicy flavour of Hakka Food.They did a nice job per my request.I ordered:1. Chicken fried rice2. Fish with mixed vegetable3. Fried noddle with beefWe came back after 25 minutes to collect the take out food.It was deliciously. We are glad we found this nice Hakka food
