Shouldice Contracting

I had a FANTASTIC experience with Shouldice Contracting. They were our general contractor for the custom home we built in 2021. Cole and Rob always listened patiently to our ideas, paid close attention to detail, and completed their work with the highest degree of quality and professionalism. We couldn’t be happier with the final product! To this day, they always make themselves available if I have any questions or ideas about additional projects to add to the house. I HIGHLY recommend Shouldice Contracting!

1 star is over generous for these guys. Anyone who would still use them after reading this review deserves what they get from them. We had them work on 4 jobs at our house and here’s the turnout:1. Changing 2 sump pump systems - our place flooded twice in the 2 months after they replaced them causing over $80k in damages. They just stopped working and Rob never replied for 2 months during both floods because he was “on vacation”. Then claimed that the systems he installed was still under warranty and he can replace them. Too late. We already had another company replace them and have had no issues since.2. Water softener system - since the install, we’ve been getting what looks like salt stains on the rim of all our taps. Again no reply from Rob. We’re now waiting for another company to take a look.3. Soil and Seed our yard. He dumped what he claimed was “soil” onto our yard, but never seeded. Again no reply when we tried to get him to finish the job. Since then we’ve brought in 2 different companies for a quote to finish the job. BOTH said the “soil” is mostly just dirt and the grass would never grow even if he did seed. WOW.4. Sprinkler system - He finished the install in the fall and when we asked to turn on to test, he claimed there’s no point because weather was getting cold and we would have to flush out the pipes before the winter, better to test in the spring. Fine. Now it’s spring and he’s no where to be found. Again we brought another company came in. Result : there’s a leak in the pipes going outside, which they tried to hide with black tape. The switch they put in was used and doesn’t work. The pipes they buried into the grounds, weren’t all buried, some were still above ground (see photo) and weren’t installed properly so it has to be reworked. We don’t even know if the sprinkles themselves work because we can’t even get the water into the pipes yet.On a separate incident, the company we brought in to check our exterior lighting noticed the flags on the sprinklers were their flags, but they didn’t do the job… hmm so what other parts of the system actually belongs to them? Why is Rob using materials belonging to another company?To be fair, there were a couple of mistakes on our part. Letting him do so many jobs at the same time without prior job history with us. He was referred by another contractor, so we thought it was safe. NO!! Over $40k we paid him, and he kept harassing us for payment when the jobs haven’t been completed. We left only $1k owing, when all 3 systems he installed haven’t been tested and seeding still not done.Till today Rob hasn’t replied. All the new contractors have been keeping record of all the issues they had to correct. Be sure we will have lawyers involved in Rob’s scam.

I hired Shouldice Contracting to renovate my bathroom this past October. They did a phenomenal job, and finished the project well before expected. All employees we're kind and courteous, and were especially adaptable to my wife and I working from home full time. Their price was fair for the top quality of work they produced. They demoed the existing bathroom bath/shower, existing floor tile, then installed all new tile and bath/shower and a new vanity that we love! Thank you Shouldice Contracting!

As a well known, well respected self employed contractor for 20 years, with many repeat customers , I have never dealt with someone like Rob Shouldice at Shouldice Contracting.After performing the agreed upon work, along with multiple extras, that were added in without notice, I was never paid the final instalment upon completion of the work I did.The foundation was cracked and sagging and therefore causing damage inside the house. Regardless of multiple questions about it, I was told by Rob Shouldice and Cole Shouldice (owner of the property), that they realized that it was an old house and multiple owners/tenants had treated it poorly and that they didn’t expect it to look like a new house. Regardless of the fact that I was told several times, by both of them, through the process how good of a job I was doing and how much better the place looked, they decided to short me the final payment on the agreed work performed.There was suspicious activity with materials on said job as well.I could write a book about my experience with this so called “company” and hope that no other contractors or home owners be treated as unprofessionally as I did. Avoid Shouldice Contracting at all costs!

My wife and I used Shouldice Contracting for our custom house build and I would strongly recommend them and use their services again. The level of professionalism and attention to detail made our house a truly one of a kind. They kept on top of all deadlines and kept us feeling happy and beyond satisfied with our experience. When I had questions about service routines and maintenance, the owner personally explained everything I would need to eventually do and when to do it. If you’re looking for quality work at fair pricing, I recommend Shouldice Contracting.

If I could put 0 stars next to this rating I would, without even thinking twice! I didn’t personally use Shouldice Contracting (thank God), but I was affected indirectly by Rob Shouldice’s unprofessional, harassing and childish attitude towards the contractors he hires.!!!!CONTRACTORS BEWARE!!!! Along with being a thief (Tartan homes, keep an eye on your paint supplies) and trying to illegally sell tools out of the back of his WORK vehicle, Rob WILL NOT pay contractors for the jobs they COMPLETE. Rob is well know for changing his phone number every few months to avoid phone calls and messages from unhappy contractors and/or clients.He will lie and tell you he received lower quotes in order to get you to quote him less and in the end, he won’t pay for ANY extra work you do, nor will he pay you the remaining balance, once the job has been completed.He will lead you to believe all the way through that he is happy with the work being done, only to refuse to pay you at the end.I strongly encourage anyone looking at Shouldice Contracting to look elsewhere and put your money and time into a good human being who is honest and fair.We heard horrible things about Rob, but decided to give him the benefit of the doubt as he has MANY issues going on in his personal life……..that was our mistake!

Shouldice Contracting is our go to choice for all of our larger house projects! Most recently, they repaired and waterproofed our cracked/leaking foundation. We were very nervous for this project as it required digging up our lawn all around the house. Thank god we chose Shouldice - they were quick and made sure to keep our yard looking clean during the entire project. Afterwards, they left our property absolutely spotless, and even planted grass seed for us! We couldn't be happier!! Thanks Cole & Rob!
