Staff and counsellors know what they're doing and honestly deserve a pay raise for putting up with so much. They have to balance so many clients in a day while pretending to have everything together. I just want to thank this organization for helping me towards my goals even though I still have a lot of work to do but I know WHAT I need to do now... I'm grateful that they've been supporting me on an ongoing basis even through my ups and downs. They don't have to support me. They don't have to sit there and listen to all my issues but they CHOOSE to. Once I'm on the path to recovery and I have my life sorted out, I'm going to make it right with everyone I once hurt. ASYR deserves a lot more recognition than what they're getting.

The counsellors are nice and are helpful. I found for me the only thing that has ever helped me with my addictions are 12 step groups. I’ve been seeing counsellors since I was a kid for addictions and it wasn’t until I did the 12 steps that i actually was able to be happy without the things I’m addicted to.

Amazing agency and I will donate everything I can. This place has changed my life. I'm so grateful. I have been able to make positive goals and changes in order to live life. The staff keep their word and try to understand where everyone is coming from (as compared to most agencies...ASYR is better). I am for sure recommending this place to others

My counsellor has really encouraged me to keep living. She tells me I have a future and good things will eventually happen. Also the groups here are absolutely amazing! This organization needs more recognition for what they do!

Addiction is addiction is addiction! All comes from the same part of the brain. Gambling, sex, shopping, all from the same piece of your brain! ASYR (addiction services York region) was started by a Dr who has always been ahead of his time. He has been treating addiction of any kind for many many yrs. With understanding and compassion that is rare in this area of medicine. The late mayor of Toronto was an addict, I suspect to more than drugs. Addiction knows no bounds, athletes, lawyers, politicians, teachers. It has absolutely nothing to do with your socioeconomic standing, it is an illness , nobody wants to be an addict of any kind. People who suffer addiction are looked down upon by society in general, it's an illness that is less understood or accepted than schizophrenia or other serious mental illnesses. Drug addiction in particular is in the most part caused/started by Dr's prescribing addictive drugs irresponsibly, and when you seek help from other Dr's when you realize that you have a problem, they aren't taking patients" or treat you with disdain

Definately the best clinic I have had experience with in all my years of recovery. The doctors and staff, specifically Dr. Jang and nurse Heather (whom of which I've had the pleasure of working with) take a personal interest in assuring their patients needs are met and to assist that your desired goals and outcome are achieved. This clinic offers extensive treatment with many kinds of support systems and therapies. Dr. Jang worked closely and commitively with me even at my worst of times when I wasn't the easiest to deal with in my past. Eventually with a plan to drop down 1 ml a week each week back in 2018 I was able to get off the methadone in less than a year with minimal withdrawl symptoms. I was sober for 3 years before covid put me into a state of bordem and loneliness and I had a relapse and slipped back into my old ways over the course of a few short months. Even though I live far now from aurora I sought out Dr. Jang who was currently not taking new patients I was told but when learning whom it was requesting him I believe he made an exception. Heather, Dr. Jang's assisting nurse has many duties that she goes over and beyond to do her best to ensure each patient is looked after accordingly and is very easy to get a hold of and talk to. She does her best and holds no grudges even when I myself have been difficult at times in my early stages of renewed sobriety. She is very personable as well as Dr. Jang, they show interest in all aspects of my life and that's what it takes to really change your entire life. This is a process you will be building professional relationships with those assisting in your recovery and I'll be honest it's the hardest thing you'll ever do, to go through the suboxone/methadone program and eventually taper down enough to get off entirely. but it's very possible and manageable to be done. It's life changing and I think if I didn't have the right support from the right clinic that it would be that much harder to achieve my goals. This is the right clinic and I would highly reccomend anyone seeking help to not hesitate to call and make that first step. It's also not to be rushed. Take advantage of what they offer here and I found for myself dropping only 1 ml every couple weeks or each week if I am feeling ambitious and capable, has worked greatly for me. Recognize it's a long process and the percentage of success will increase greatly. It will be the best decision you ever made.

My counsellor stopped returning my calls, and when ever I call in the receptionist always rushes you off the phone. It would be nice if people here were more polite and had the ability to understand your dealing with individuals in extremely difficult situations. The way you treat your clients should be more of a concern and simple phone manors need to be applied more regularly. A simple have a nice day goes a long way for someone in need, but a harsh hang up could ruin someone’s day if they are not well.
