Wonderspeak Speech Therapy & Myofunctional Clinic

I have been seeing Alicia Sukra at Wonderspeak for my life-long stutter. Alicia has a wonderful and warming personality. She is very professional and tailors her approach/strategy to suit my needs and characteristics. I have been struggling with nervousness and stuttering during job interviews and it has bothered me for a long time. When I expressed my concern with job interviews to Alicia, she gave me many tips on breathing and relaxing prior to and during the interview, as well as working patiently with me on all of my trouble" words for the interview. She also taught me to take deep breaths and produce sounds lightly so that I do not get stuck while speaking. What really worked well for me was that I have set all of my therapy appointments a day prior to the interview day so that her tips and encouragement were fresh in my mind. I felt confident and prepared before starting the interviews. I received a job offer after working with Alicia for a few weeks and I can't thank Alicia enough for it! I am really glad that I have met her and would recommend her to anyone who has been struggling with their speech :)"

My daughter is 13 and has tried several speech therapists over the years. Some from the school board and some private. Nothing seemed to stick until we met Alicia. Alicia was the first therapist to custome make the therapy to the unique shape and size of my daughter's mouth and tongue. I am amazed at the difference! My daughter is also shy, but Alicia has completely won her over with her kindness and humour. I cannot reccomend Winderspeak enough. My daughter's speech has finally improved, and so has her self confidence.

I brought our 18 month old to see Teri at the Ronscesvalles location after a doctor recommended we look into what was likely a language and speech delay with our daughter. Teri was supportive, kind, thorough, encouraging, and wonderful with both our daughter and I. She made the learning fun through play, built a rapport within minutes, and coached me on the strategies I could continue with our daughter at home. I could not recommend her enough. In case it's helpful to others, she offers online sessions as well.

We have been going to see Alicia Sukra at Wonderspeak for my young son’s speech therapy needs for over a year now, and it is always one of the highlights of our week - seriously. Alicia clearly has tons of knowledge and expertise in the field, but she is also just so warm and patient and amazing with kids, and this has helped my shy little three year old in his sessions. He genuinely loves her, and even when he has an off day, Alicia always has a way of reaching him. We have recently been able to start visiting the new Roncesvalles location, and we love it! It’s so bright and lovely and you can see Alicia’s attention to detail in the beautiful design and layout of the space. This is a person who cares about the entire experience that her clients have - beginning to end. Also - parking has been easy to find, which is a bonus.

Took my child there for Speech Therapy and was surprised how the Therapist looked like she was depending on me to initiate strategies for her to follow when she should be doing and I and my child to follow . Sessions pretty much unorganized, toys was basically left all over the room so my child wasn’t focused on one activity at a time to be able to learn and play . I had to ask her to bring toy up to her face to help my child with eye contact just cause that was one of my request signing up for therapy.I felt like I was only paying for written and online strategies and whatever goals given to me at the end of session was hardly practiced. We have found a therapist and I could tell you it’s a big difference.

we have been going for a couple months now and our 5 year old has progressed much faster then we could ever do on our own. Our speech therapist Dorit has been amazing and has been teaching our child the fundamentals of how to make sounds properly and is now putting together sentences clearly and more confident.

Our son is 3.5 and we’ve been seeing Kate Powell for almost a year now. For first 8 months or so it was all virtual sessions due to the pandemic, but now we attend in person with the occasional virtual session. Looking at videos from a year ago, the difference is night and day. Our son went from grunting, pointing, and saying one word here and there to full 4-7 word sentences, making requests, and properly using nouns, pronouns, and adjectives. Kate is patience, great with our son, and makes the learning fun. She also takes time throughout the session to check in with us as parents to see where things are at and how we are doing which is very helping considering how emotional this journey can be. Highly recommend her services as a speech therapist for little ones!

We visited Wonderspeak because our 5 year daughter had problems pronouncing K's and G's. We got great results in about 12-14 sessions.We saw another therapist before Alicia/Wonderspeak with limited results. Alicia's method was very different .For the first 4-5 sessions we never got to practice K/G sounds at all - it was all tongue muscle exercises (i.e. holding a cheerio in a specific position). We'd get homework with those same exercises. As we transitioned into pronouncing K/G sounds, our daughter started picking them right up.The space/clinic is very warm and Alicia is just wonderful with kids. The front-desk staff is awesome and accommodating.

We first started to work with Kate Powell from Wonderspeak when my daughter was about 18 months old to help her with a speech language delay. We’ve been seeing Kate online (due to the pandemic) for the past 8 months and my daughter loves each session with her. Kate is very child-friendly, patient and kind. My daughter feels very comfortable engaging with her, even with the added barrier of doing our sessions virtually. I am confident with the amount of experience and expertise Kate has as she always thoroughly explains what evidence based strategies we will be adopting and why. She is very respectful of me, the parent, and has always been very patient to answer all of my questions and ensure that I understand the strategies in place to carry on throughout the day when I'm on my own with my daughter. Kate also ensures that I have some thorough notes to refer to as well. I highly recommend Kate’s guidance and expertise as a speech language pathologist and am very appreciative of the friendly and knowledgeable staff at Wonderspeak.
