The Castle Rock hike is a great hike with fantastic views of the shore and surrounding area. Note that the trail is primarily flat, gravelled rail trail until you get to the loop portion. This is where it gets interesting. There are three routes up, an easy combined with a medium route, and a hard route. We took the hard route up and easy/medium route down. The hard side is actually shorter and from what we found on the way down, not much harder than the other side. The long steady slope may be a bit easier than the more uneven climb on the hard side, but is less interesting.Check out the nearby Graves Island Provincial Park after your hike for a lovely seaside picnic!

A hike that has both easy-hard loops to the end destination. I took the yellow hard" path up

Beautiful trails, but do not be fooled into trying to access the trail head by Boulder Dr" on Google maps. It is NOT a road. It is a very rocky

A solid trail with an amazing panoramic view at the end. Parking is right across from the entrance on the side of the road that you can pull over. Once you walk in, there is a map that shows you which direction to walk towards as the trail is also part of the Rail to Trails. The first section to reach the Castle Rock Trail is pretty flexible for walkers, runners, cyclists, motorcyclists, and even 4 wheelers. There is also a bike lock area right at the entrance of the castle rock trail where you can leave your bike and walk the rest of the way up. There are three trails from here varying in difficulty and steepness. We took the easier one to and fro and that trail was very well labelled. It got very steep at the end when you had to climb a rock face to get to the viewpoint: however, it was all worth it because the scenery was really beautiful and you can see all around the area. I would definitely recommend this trail for anyone looking for a beginner-intermediate trail for trekking.

The view on the crest of “the rock” is a stunning panorama of woods extended to the coastal line as well as the ocean. It’s a bit tricky to find the parking shown on google maps though. The parking is located two rods away from the trail head with a map stand, meaning walking through two roads is required to get to the starting point. There are three options leading to the summit which is one of the highlights of this trip. Different scenes can be expected when the paths are preferred.
