Dollarama

Their workers are not trained in customer service at ALL. I get it, its a new place with new employees who are learning, but it was ridiculous. We go to the cashier. We had a cart FULL of items. He begins scanning items, and then suddenly he stops and tells us that all of our items are not going to fit into one plastic bag. We tell him its fine, we are okay with multiple plastic bags. Then he proceeds to take all of the items out of the bag, and places them all onto the counter… instead of just taking the bag off and putting it on the counter and starting a new bag? We continue to try and give him items to scan but there is no counter space for all of our things. I was also getting concerned with how it was all disorganized on the counter because I did not want to be double charged for anything. I ask him if it would be easier to put the things into the bags instead of stacking it all up onto the counter, he ignores me. Then, multiple items begin to not scan properly. He calls his supervisor over and theyre both struggling to find the proper SKU for the items we were trying to buy (literally a bottle of pepsi and a box of smarties.)I tell them we can just use the self checkout instead if its that difficult. I get ignored again! Then proceeds to tell us he cant sell us the items because they arent in their system? Very confusing. After we finally paid, we had to bag all of our items ourselves because he wasnt bagging ANYTHING while he was scanning a cart full of items and attempting to stack all of it up onto the counter instead of just putting it all in a bag. Also the bags he gave us were the regular sized bags instead of the xl ones, so we had 6 different bags instead of like.. 3 big ones or something. And because he was stacking a carts worth of things on top of each other he dropped a bunch of our food items onto the floor, which is just .. unsanitary and gross. Two stars only bc the dollarama is in a good location, but no one is trained properly or they have zero retail experience. I highly suggest only using the self checkouts because everyone there seems to hate their job already despite the store being open for barely a week.

It’s a pretty standard Dollarama. Familiar layout, fair selection. Love the location.The reason it’s not 5 stars is that the cashier sent me to self-checkout (that’s fine, I would’ve chosen that anyway) but then stood behind me and gave me step-by-step instructions for how to use the self-checkout, even though it’s exactly the same as any other one. I just found it really weird and unnecessary.Overall, very happy with this Dollarama and I will be returning!
