Without a doubt the worst health insurance company I have ever dealt with. A terrible app, very slow to process claims, will deny claims they have previously approved and then only approve them again after repeated calls and emails. After we switched providers they have refused to process claims that were within our active policy dates and simply will not reply or help. They have terrible coverage rates compared to other providers who have plans with similar rates.

It is important to let all people know that when you give Equitable access to automatically withdraw money from your account, they can, and in our case did, increase the amount significantly without our authorization. After a lot of effort on our part they attempted to brush us off by giving one fifth of what they owe us, suggesting they were doing it in 'good faith' but we will not stop until we get all they owe us. Beware people! I will update when I get back all the money they stole from us.

I needed to purchase eye glasses before my 24 month period had elapsed . I phoned in and talked to a representative who told me that is fine but not to submit the receipt until my 24 months were completed. I submitted after the 24 month period and showed my full balance available of $ 250.00 . I submitted my receipt and it was turned down as my service date was done before the 24 month were completed. So now I am going to purchase another pair of glasses and submit the form again. What difference does it make to this company as they are still going to have to pay the $ 250.00 If their people don't know the rules then they should not be giving out false information. Absolutely stupid rules by a company trying to prove how cheap and how low of service they can provide

Claims typically take 10 days to be reimbursed which is really hard as someone who lives pay cheque to pay cheque. None of the services I use have Equitable Life except my dentist so I pay out of pocket and live short for 2 weeks. Disappointing but my employer chose them not me. Claims r easy to do through the app

I've been chasing a termination policy cheque for 7 weeks, it was sent to the wrong address, even though they confirmed the address on file. The rep I was dealing with waited a full week to issue the replacement cheque. I will never deal with this company again, terrible service.

For companies looking for worker benefits I'd recommend Canada Life or a HSA. Equitable is horrible. They denied me benefits under my husband group plan because I have a mild fear of public speaking/ social anxiety. It has never interfered with my life or work. They are in their right to deny people for benefits and life insurance but their detailed reason" are ridiculous. I asked for the reason which they said they could only send to my doctor. What they sent her was one sentence.. they said my heart raced when public speaking. They made me pay out of pocket for my doctor's note stating I am in perfect health and do not require treatment and did nothing with it. No response after receiving the note. I'd give zero stars if it were an option. I applied elsewhere and was approved

Wait times are long but service is great, I have no problems waiting

I would not recommend this company to anyone. My wife was denied with my group insurance. They fat shamed her and said she had to lose 50 pounds and maintain it for 12 months. You have to be kidding right?. My doctor was very disturbed when he received the letter from them. Also she is in perfect health. Stay away from them.

Poor record keeping practice. I understand that insurance agent has a high turnover rate and cannot be a reliable source when you need to inquire about your own policy. But when ask with the head office about my policy they are unable to provide the 10-year detail about the policy performance (it has an investment portfolio), top up with long response time making Equitable Life just another insurance company that has poor post-sale client relationship.
