This is hands down the best Volkswagen shop around. I came to John with big ambitions of taking a 72 bus on a road trip across North America. When I brought it to him it could barely drive without breaking down. I told him very clearly my budget (which was tight as a university student) and what I wanted to get from it (a cross country road trip). He made it happen. He inspected EVERYTHING, and decided to swap my engine block with a very clean one he had in the shop, inspected all of the parts, put on new seals, fixed a broken carb, replaced replaced my master brake cylinder and brake lines, added an electronic ignition, improved my wiring, and custom built me an intake- as well as some other things I likely forgot- all for a very affordable price.His shop is extremely organized, with his wife Pam taking all calls and making sure they can get you in as soon as possible. I have never had to wait for more than a couple days to bring my van in, and trust that in any emergency they would fit me in right away.My van made the 5,000 mile trip with NO ISSUES. Just routine oil changes and it purred all the way home to Vermont.Very thankful for John and his team.

We were coming down from the interior heading to the island when things went sideways in the engine, there was smoke! I googled Volkswagen mechanics and Van Wonder came up, I have a 94 Volkswagen camper van, so my intuition said this was the place. We showed up, they got us in right away, fixed things and got us on our way in under an hour! Amazing, we were so grateful! And very lovely people to boot:)

Much more expensive than expected, like 5-6x more. No quote before work. Surprise you with a big bill when you pick up. And the problem still exists. Went to a different shop the next day, problem got fix in 15 min… Going to a dealer is still cheaper than going here.

I am very particular about who repairs my cars. I am a race motorcycle mechanic with machinist experience. John and his crew at Van Wonder are VW specialists and are quality mechanics. Over two decades of experiences with Van Wonder, I can tell you they represent honesty and integrity.

Johnny is an absolute wizard and he's the only one I trust with my three vehicles.

The clutch in my 1989 Vanagon gave out one evening on Labour Day weekend and left me and my van marooned at the north end of the Lion's Gate bridge. A quick Google search led me to Van Wonder, which fortunately was about 2 km away. I called and left a message, and later that night got a return phone call. They had a spot available in the shop *the next morning!* Long story short, I got the van towed there and Van Wonder fixed it in less than a day, for an entirely reasonable price. Owner John is an engaging guy who knows everything about VW vans, so I knew I was in good hands. I also know I was lucky because most VW shops have two-week or longer waiting lists. I was in and out in a day and the vehicle's been working flawlessly ever since. Amazing service! Thank you!

Excellent service here- not only does John do great work, but he also takes the time to explain everything in detail. I have taken a number of my vehicles here including my current VW and I am always confident in the quality of service, work, and pricing. Would highly recommend.
