West Coast Suites at UBC

This is my second time in this hotel and same as my first time, it’s always good. Place is clean, quiet and very accessible to bus. Our room has it’s own kitchen with dishwasher, glass stove top and microwave. Very convenient! Room is a good size also especially if you have a baby. We had a small living room, where I spent a lot of time with my daughter while my husband is doing a course. Will definitely stay here again!

Check in staff were super friendly and very helpful. Room was compact but incredibly comfy. Great kitchen area with full size fridge and stove. And there's even a dishwasher! These kinds of extras can save you a fortune: get some groceries and eat in instead of dropping your hard earned cash and eating out (but if that's your jam there's plenty of options within an easy, short walk).Bathroom was spotless. Bed was first rate too. If you travel regularly you'll appreciate the little details: things like the umbrella in the cupboard, the high quality soaps and environmentally sound dishwasher tablets...people here have clearly thought about guest's needs.Super easy to get here if you're driving (parking is right onsite too) and if you want to get downtown it's a simple drive (or better yet, take the bus...the main bus station is right across the street). Lots to do nearby and very safe.Really great stay and very highly recommended

Very impressed with this hotel that is on Campus. My husband and I needed to stay multiple days for a surgery, also needed an early checkin the day we headed over that way from VGH and Shawn (spelling?) was able to deliver. He was so kind and accommodating. Was a bit of a maze to get there with construction blocking the road you would normally take to get to it, but once we arrived/checked in, it was an easy area to navigate with lots of outdoor parking available. There was also a Tim Hortons and a small coffee shop within short walking distance from our building. The room was the size of a one bedroom apartment with lots of room to spread out. Was nice to have a balcony to sit on and get some fresh air. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything a person would need to cook, and most of all, it was quiet! Best sleep we have ever had in a hotel. Unfortunately, the surgery was cancelled last minute and the bonus for us was we could cancel the remainder of our booked stay without penalty. Thank you so much for this!! We will be headed back in the Spring for the rescheduled surgery and will definitely be making this our home base again. Thank you to West Coast Suites for everything during our stay. We recommend this Hotel to anyone that needs to stay on the UBC Campus.

Based on the good reviews, we booked and arrived with a high expectation. To my disappointment, our experience has been disappointing. Nobody was in the front desk, so we had to wait to check in (never happened to me before in any other hotels). My question and request about bathtub was just plainly ignored and we found no bathtub in the room. The first towel we picked up had a big yellow stain (yuck!). The room had a slight smell of smoking despite their non-smoking policy. They seem to have only a limited number of parking spots (so much for paid parking, duh). Lastly, I think the management should first be focused on how to give customers good impressions from the front desk, which is something we didn’t get unfortunately.I don’t think we will ever come back.

Have stayed with West Coast suites a few times now and love the suites and great locationWill definitely return for another Visit soon .

Sparkling clean, student staff are super friendly and the room! Wow! That's a proper mini flat with a kitchen area and a living room! It's quite close to UBC facilities and to the beach and some museums. Convenient stores and nice quick or proper restaurants are just within walking distance. Absolutely recommend them if you need to stay close to UBC.

Room was perfect, impeccably clean, dishwasher, fridge, stove, shower only which is fine and a bed that was quite lovely, Tim Hortons downstairs and very good security entrance passcard.

There were two blankets in the closet, one of which had a stain that smelled rancid. The plumbing in my room was old and noisy. Stayed there for 7 days, but never received any extra towels, coffee, or room cleaning despite leaving messages with the reception. I had to ask three times for them to remove the rubbish bag outside my door and after that no new plastic bags were provided for rubbish.

Room was a suite with a comfortable king size bed in the bedroom. There is no tv in the bedroom. The kitchenette contained a cook top, small fridge, sink and super quiet dishwasher. The kitchenette was sufficiently equipped so you could prepare most meals. An oven or a communal bbq would have made life a little easier. The couch in the living room was a little uncomfortable. Overall the suite was very clean and well maintained. Reasonable value for the money spent. Parking is an additional cost of about $12 per night
