Grace Mansion, Salvation Army residents have been the recipients of the HomeStart Foundation for a number of years. In the last 12 months alone, they have supported 70 of our residents who would not have been able to afford any furniture on their own. There has never been a single bed bug incident in all these years through this program. HomeStart staff has always been courteous and kind to residents who would not be able to furnish their home without this amazing service. I've used Homestart twice. The first time included a television. The second time a lazy boy chair, among several other items.

I was moving out and was planning to dispose my living room furniture, which was in great condition hence I did not have the heart to throw it away. I wanted to put it to good use and came across HomeStart.I reached out to them, scheduled a pick up and requested an earlier pick up. They had a slot open, called me and the couch was taken on the same day. Great communication and efficient service. All they asked was a $75 minimum donation that is not at all unreasonable since a tax receipt is provided.You can donate online or during pick up. Total time for them to take my furniture was less than ten minutes! There were 2 people who came and had great attitude to make anyone remain comfortable.Thank you for your service and easing my move out

As the owner of a company that deals in Downsizing and the reduction of items going into landfill I am so happy to have found the professional people here at Homestart.They are often looking for specific items to help those in need and checking in with them often allows me to allocate gently used furniture items to them so they may find a new home with someone less fortunate.I recommend them to many clients wanting to donate who call me as their operational fees to collect items are minimal and extremely reasonable.Thank you for all the great work yo do!The Rest Easy Removals (and Auctions) Team

I'd like to donate but you're charging a $75 'donation' for pick up? I wanted to help but that's impossible to me. Also, charging makes it a service. I hope you're declaring this on your tax return otherwise it's tax avoidance and therefore punishable by law.

The furniture they have me infested my apartment with bedbugs. It was a wooden dresser with evidence of bedbug feces. Make sure you check your furniture!! Or better yet, don't get used furniture.

I have tried to donate large furniture in excellent condition and was told that they will only pick up with a$50 donation. Real leather sofa, a bar height table, several clean carpets , 2 media cabinets, variety of curtains, dishes, bed linen, etc... will not take unless I pay. What a scam!

When I arrived in Vancouver in 2017 as an immigrant with my entire family, we received HomeStart supplies. We used some for two years before buying new ones, and so far, we are still using others. During the offer, the HomeStart team gave me the freedom to choose the furniture. So, I chose useful and according to my preference. The volunteers and some team members helped me to load the vans with chairs, shelves, table and pedestal tables, chairs ...Thank you very much HomeStart for your generosity and good continuity HomeStart Foundation.

If I could give this charity 10 tens I would. From relating to Vikki (Coordinator) in the beginning to the courteous and efficient movers, the transition was absolutely smooth. The volunteers were more professional than any so-called professionals we've dealt with before. The fairly large items we donated were dealt with in about 10 minutes. I highly recommend this charity.
